-Mark's POV-
My phone buzzed as I took a look at my messages.
Dear Mr Tuan,
Congratulations! You have successfully gotten a job as the cashier at Chillz Café! You may begin working tomorrow, at 11 am. Wish you a wonderful day!
Yours sincerely,
Manager of Chillz Café
My eyes widened in surprise. I jumped around in happiness, not believing that I actually got a job.
For months I've been trying to get a job but no place accepted me, I was glad that the manager of this café finally accepted me. I could finally earn some money for my own living.
I was living alone since my parents already passed away, leaving myself in this big house. They left some money but it'll soon run out, so I decided to get a job so I could pay for the rent and other necessities.
-Time skip to the next day-
"Ring!!" My alarm rang.
I stretched as I slowly got up. I took a glance at the clock next to me which showed '10.15'. It was just enough time for me to get ready and head to my work place. I quickly washed up and went to the kitchen to make breakfast.
I just made a plate of omelette and drank a glass of milk.
After finish eating my breakfast, I left the house and went to the bus stop.
When my bus came, I boarded it and sat next to a window. The bus was getting more crowded as swarms of people came squeezing onto the bus.
Suddenly, a girl with straight black hair that's a bit below her shoulder, sat on the seat next to mine.
She started fixing her hair since she probably squeezed through that crowd of people.
She smelt like mangoes. Well, I'm not trying to be a creep here but the smell of mango was really strong.
After a while, the bus came to an abrupt stop and I went down, together with the...
Mango girl.
No offence to her though, but she really smelt like mangoes. However, I liked it. It was really addicting to be honest. If you've ever smelt soap that smelt like fruits, you'll get what I mean.
I went to Chillz Café and was greeted my the manager.
"Hello, you must be Mark Tuan! I'm glad you could make it to work today and here is your uniform. After changing, you can start working. You'll have to come here every weekday at 11 am straight and you could leave at 6 pm. You may start your shift now, good luck," the manager smiled at me and left.
I went to the restroom and changed into my uniform. It fit perfectly.
I went to the counter and waited for my first customer to come.
The bell on the door rang as a customer came in. I took his order and calculated his bill.
After all, my first try was successful.
Afterwards, more customers came and I handled the job without any problems. I might be talented in doing thus stuff!
Then, an aroma of mango wafted through my nose. It was soothing and I sniffed a couple of tines before looking up.
Bingo.
It was the mango girl.
"Welcome to Chillz Café what would you like to order miss?" I smiled and she looked at me weirdly. She probably recognised me as the guy on the bus.
"You? Oh, I'm sorry for being rude. And umm... I would like an ice latte, please," she told me and I calculated her bill.
"It's $3.40 thank you very much," I said as she handed me her bill. She waited for her latte as I took the chance to talk to her, getting to know her more.
"Do you come here often?" I asked first as she turned her attention to me.
"Oh me? I work at a flower shop across the street. My shift just ended so I decided to get a drink. You?" She said.
"I'm new here so I don't really know a lot of things," I told her as I scratched the back of my neck. I mean, I do that every time.
"Ahh, I see. Perhaps I could show you around? My name is Jiyoung by the way," she said and extended a hand while smiling.
"I'd love that and my name is Mark," I said and shook her hand. She decided to bring me on a tour around this place, so I could be familiar with it, tomorrow after my shift ends.
"Yo, new boy! The ice latte is here!" My fellow colleague said and handed me Jiyoung's ice latte. I couldn't really recall his name but I think it's... Jae... Bung? Or is it bum? Anyways it's Jae something.
I handed Jiyoung her ice latte and she smiled at me, showing me her pearly whites. She really likes to smile a lot.
"Thanks," she said and went to find a table.
After a short while, my shift finally ended and all the customers left the Café.
"Well done Mark hyung, remember to come back tomorrow and work hard! Your shift is over and you may go home now!" Another one of my colleagues said. I think he's Yu... Gum... Or is it gom... Aish anyways it's Yu something. I should really work on remembering names.
I left the Café and walked back home. As I walked out of the Café I could see a shop with flowers, all types of flowers. They were vibrant, and they looked really pretty. I guess that was the flower shop Jiyoung was talking about.
Just that it was another boy doing the shift right now.
Right... She said her shift already ended. However, I still looked forward to having a tour with her after my shift tomorrow.
The night was arriving as I quickened my steps. I hated nights since it felt scary. It's not bright... It's all dim.
But sometimes I had to admit, when lights shine in the dark, they could be even prettier that in the day. I don't know, I'm just a weird person, and no one can change that.
I reached home and plopped myself on the bed.
"Jiyoung... See you tomorrow," I mumbled as I went into dreamland.
-To be continued-
