Cameron stared at the box laying in her locker in total shock and disbelief at what she was seeing. Oscar stared at the green eye girl. "Hey Cam whats wrong?" He had a puzzled look on his face looking into the locker. "What are you looking at?" Cameron gazed over at the bewildered boy.
"You don't see that? You don't see the box?" Cameron started to feel like she was going crazy. He looked over at her feeling uneasy. Her face was paler then usual, it looked as if her already white skin lost color completely. The eyes that are usually full of happiness were dull and held confusion in them. "Oscar why are you looking at me like that?"
The brown haired boy glanced at the girl. "Cameron there is no box in there just books. Are you feeling okay?" Cameron laughed while she gazed at the box. Oscar awkwardly laughed along with her. He put his hand on her shoulder trying to get her attention. "Hey, I got to go to class I'll see you later okay?" The Auburn haired girl looked over the concerned boy and nodded her head.
"I'll see you later." She smiled. Once he was out of sight she took the box out of her locker. Holding it in her hands she inspected the box once more. She looked around the hall way, and did something she has never done before. She walked right out of the school without hesitation without even thinking.
She walked all the way to the beginning of the path. She looked at the box and closed her eyes. "Oh God please tell me I am not going crazy." Her eyes glance down at the pathway, once her foot stepped on the pathway she started running to where she thought she saw the box. She stopped out of breath. She looked around hoping that she didn't go to far. She walked off the bath a bit looking at the trees. That's when she spotted the tree, the only reason she knew it was the tree was because the dirt under the tree had a perfect square imprinted on it. She squated down and but the box down on the imprinted dirt. The box fit like a puzzle piece. She stared at the box before getting up. "What is going on? How'd that box get into my locker and why couldn't Oscar see it?" She ran her fingers over the word 'Laughing Jack'. A shadow over towered her.
"You know you shouldn't touch things that don't belong to you." A voice whispered in her ear. She stood up slowly and looked behind her, but no one was there. Cameron looked around and began to run home. She felt uneasy the feeling of being watched grew stronger. She began to run to home. Yet every so often she would see a tall shadow figure standing by the trees.
Finally she was off the path but that still didn't stop her from running she ran through town all the way to her house. She got to her front door out of breath and shakily grabbed her keys out of her back pack. She unlocked the door and ran inside and frantically locking the door behind her before running up the stairs to her bed room locking her bedroom door as well. She laid on her bed in a panic and out of breath. Her mind was running through a million thoughts but the main one was "What was that?" Suddenly she wasn't feeling so hot she jumped up and ran to the bathroom connected to her bed room and threw up. She got up from the toilet and wiped her mouth. She then felt a vibrate in her back pocket she pulled her phone out and raised an eyebrow. "Unknown number?" She thought to her self. She answered the phone. "Hello?" There was silence. "Hello!" She said more sternly. A dark laugh came crackling through the speakers of her phone. "You sure do run fast." She hung up and put her phone and ran her fingers through her hair. "You just need to take a warm shower and relax all of this is just in your head." She undressed her self and stepped in the shower. She let the hot water run down her body she grabbed her lavender body wash and a cloth and rubbed it all over her body hopping that would calm her down. She stayed in the shower for what seemed like forever. She turned off the water sighed stepping out of the shower.
She put on a baggy sweater her brother Michael had given her before he left to go to the Marine Crops, and shorts. She laid in bed and closed her eyes and let out a deep sigh. She was trying very hard not to think about that phone call. Her mind was anything but quiet all she could think of was that box. She got up and unlocked her door, she made her way back to her bed the voice on the phone rang in her ears. She didn't feel right she felt very unsteady. Something was off. Something wasn't right in the air. Her bright green eyes looked over at her door a bit paranoid. "What is that figure I saw earlier?"
She sat up and grabbed her laptop. She stared at the google search bar trying to think of what to put her fingers danced on the keys. She started off 'with the fist thing that came to her mind 'dark tall figure' and she read multiple websites and it all talked about was shadow people. Most of the websites said they were harmless. Yet she knew that's not what she saw. The next thing she looked up was exactly what she read on the box 'Laughing Jack in the Box' She felt pretty ridiculous when she saw what popped up 'Creepypasta Laughing Jack'. Immediately she ditched that idea it was just to ridiculous. That was a made up character by someone on the internet. Not even slightly realistic or possible. She shut her laptop very discouraged. "What now? Am I going crazy?" She spoke aloud. She closed her heavy eyes falling into a deep sleep.
She woke up to a knock on her door. "Cameron are you in there?" Her mother called to her knocking on the door. Cameron groaned at the door. "I am coming in." Her mother walked in the bed room with a very displeased look on her face. "I got a call from the school saying you weren't in cla-" Her mother looked at her daughter who was still very pale. "Are you feeling well?" Her mom put her hand on her warm forehead. "Cameron you are burning up."
Cameron opened one eye and looked at her mom before sitting up. Felt very dizzy and her head was pounding. "I am sorry mom I just got to school and felt very sick. I didn't want to bother you and dad." Cameron said holding her hold. She blinked a few times as she tried to get the room the stop spinning.
Her mother sighed. "Cammy you are not bothering your father and I by calling us if you are sick. Just call us next time I am going to go get you a glass of cold water and some medicine." She said before leaving the room. Cameron went to grab her laptop and then she saw it. Her eyes burned with disbelief. The box mocked her on the night stand. Her mother walked back into the room with a glass of water and a small white pill. 'Cammy ta-"
"Mom do you see the box? Please tell you see the box!" She said breaking out into a feverish sweat. her face read panic, and her eyes yelled fear and confusion.
"Cameron are you okay? There is no box." Cameron started to feel very light headed again her ears rung with the sound of a menacing laughter before she passed out. Her mother looked at her with wide eyes. Panic filled the room as her mother shook her "Cammy wake up! James call 911 now!" Her mother yelled to her father.
A dark chuckle escaped the box. "Well isn't this fun!"
