"I can't believe I'm stuck with that idiot, and not only that but I have to do the cake that he wants to make at our home with him."  I groan in annoyance as I stab the meatloaf mom made.

"Honey, please stop trying to kill the food." Mom scolds me, even though she's laughing at me silently.

I look up at her raising my hands up in the air.

"And why aren't you at least a bit worried about this, you know the 'thing' that happened with him. His a menace!" I seethed as I shove the mash potato in my mouth.

She just gives me a small shrug, but I can tell she's holding something back from me.

"Look I understand the situation here, but some things can't be helped and besides it's just one project out of many, so this will hopefully be a one time thing."

"Besides I have my own personal grudges against that boy, but it's not my place to get back at him."

I put my fork down putting my hands on the table. "I know mom, but that doesn't mean I have to let it slide. He needs to know that what he did, didn't just hurt my feelings."

She looks at me sadly, as she reaches over the table to grab my hand, giving it a tender squeeze.

As I'm about to continue talking the door bell rings.

"I'll get it." I say, marching my way to the door.

I open it to find Ryder.

"Your early." I say, as I move out the way to let him in, even though I want to slam the damn door in his face.

"Sorry I have to be at work soon so I came over to get this out of the way." He says sheepishly, looking nervous.

"You work?" I ask surprised, I mean he's got money why would he need to do anything.

"Um yeah, look I'm in a hurry I don't mean to be rude. It's just, you know work."

This is very strange, I'm use to the cocky Ryder. This Ryder seems.... Well, normal.

"Sure... come in. Mom! Ryder is here." Behind me I felt Ryder stop following me. I look behind me to see Ryder looking down.

"Hello Ryder." My mom greets him, as she stands at the corner of the hallway.

"Hello Mrs. Graham." He addresses her quietly. She sighs, but smiles lightly at him. "Please just call me Lilly."

"Yes ma'm."

It's been only 20 minuets that his been at my house and we made the pound cake, we just need to find a design to go with it.

"So, what time do you have to be at work." I ask, as I'm getting out the frosting out of the cabinet.

"I have to there at 8."

I look up at the clock to see the time is 6:34 pm. "Oh now I see why your in a hurry, and here I thought you were just trying get out of the house of a girl you bullied." I say out loud, and just like that, everything freezes.

I look over to see him holding the frosting in his hands and staring straight ahead.

"Emilian, please can we just finish this so I can leave. I don't want to start anything." He says quietly.

"You should have thought about that when you had a chance when we were kids." I shot back.

"That's the thing, I was a kid! Kids do stupid stuff all the time and you should just let it go!" He shouts back.

I stand there eyes wide and mouth open. How dare he yell at me like that in  my house!

"You know what, let's just finish this stupid cake so I don't have to see your stupid face again!" I yell back, as I reach in the drawers to get a butter knife to lather the icing on the cake.

We worked in silence, and by the time we finished Ryder was heading towards the front door.

Before he opens the door he looks back at me, "This right here, we're not done yet. We'll talk about this later."

I march by he's side and open the door for him, "Like hell we are." I whisper menacing at him. He stares into my eyes, and for a second I see the pity in them dark chocolate eyes of his, but it hardens and he walks out into the night, just as I'm slamming the door behind him.
