"Abby! You better get going!" "Yes, mom!"

Yes, my name is Abby and only Abby. Currently my mother is forcing me to visit my alma mater, my old high school, before I go back to school. She said 'It's a good experience to see all the old memories there, good or bad. Go see them before you go!" Yuck. That sounds really stupid, but if that means it will get my mother off my back, then I guess it's worth it.

I get in the car and drive over to the school. Shaker Heights High School. I haven't been here since I picked up my diploma. That was in 2020, 5 years ago. I almost didn't want to get out of the car, afraid to unleash old memories. I watched a couple cars go by, until a girl on a motorcycle pulls into the driveway. She parks it and pulls the helmet off, revealing who she was.

Hallie? What is she doing here? I thought she went off to medical school? She stepped off the bike and started to walk up to the door, when I got the courage to jump out of the car and yell her name.

"Hallie! It's me, Abby!" She turned at the sound of her name and smiled. "Abby! How have you been? It's been far too long. We haven't gotten together since 2019." "Yeah. It was your graduation party. I've been busy." She nods and loops our arms together like we used to in high school.

"What are you doing here, Abby?" "I wanted to visit the school, that's all." I started. I hoped Hallie wasn't doing anything so we could hang out like old times. "So, are you doing anythin-" "Haaaaalllllliiiiiieeeeeee!!!!!" I was cut off by a certain someone running down the hall to greet her. "Tracy? It's been forever!" "Oh my god is that Abby? In the flesh?" Tracy hugs both of us and flashes one of her signature smiles. "It's truly me, in the flesh." "Well, we should find the rest of us and have a little get together." Tracy suggests. "Sounds like fun!" Hallie agrees cheerfully.

We make our way out of the school, after an afternoon of goofing around at all the old things we used to do. Toni eventually joined us along with Duncan. The two have become friends, at least, more friendlier than in high school. We walk to our vehicles and planned to meet at Duncan's. Tracy rode with me, and Hallie trailed behind on her bike.

As we drove toward his house, screaming could be heard in the distance, along with police and ambulance sirens. "What in the world is going on?" "Well," Tracy started. "Ever since you left after high school, Shaker started to develop new technology, almost like animatronics, you could say. They would work for humans, y'know, cook and clean. Shaker hired engineers like Duncan and I to help work on these bots. We developed a personality chip for them to give them individuality." "Okay, but how does this related to the screaming?" This wasn't making any sense. "They are rebelling".

Hope you guys enjoyed the 1st chapter. It's summer so I'll be updating, but I'm going to be working with performance stuff this year, so it might slow down starting next week.
Alright, Hallie Out
