The story plays out in Jovano a country where magic was once a very important part of the peoples' culture but it is now forgotten except in a hidden city called Arvish. Arvish is a large city situated in a valley surrounded by the Halwende mountains. Arvish was also once called the Travellers' city because of all the trade routes in the surrounding area. But after Magic was banned from Jovano the city disappeared from all the maps and was never seen again. Because the people of Arvish refused to stop practising magic their king and queen decided to ask one of the most powerful mages in the land, who hasn't left the country yet, to put a cloaking spell on the city so that no one with bad intentions or a hatred for magic could ever find the city. Now the royal family of Jovano could not destroy Arvish and the city was protected and the people could still practise magic without fearing for their lives.
