Twisted Solitude

There once was a land,

Where the ground was all sand,

And the people were always,

Blue.

Confusion lurked,

Within their minds,

Because the purpose of life-

They never knew.

The buildings were old,

And cracked,

And stacked,

With bricks that were alike.

Their musty smell,

Reeked in the air,

Although this-

Is their normal night.

But something was different,

Not smell,

Nor taste,

But maybe the way of the light.

The red clouds

Blood shot,

But this only helped,

To spoil the people's delight.

Then from the cloud,

Fell a drop.

Followed by many a more.

Then the people,

Began to notice,

Things are not-

As they were before.

The beautiful sky,

Was a deep purple lie,

For it had never

Been this dark.

Then came in

A misty haze,

Rolling in from afar.

The sun was setting,

As the people were heading,

Back into their homes.

But whether it was from

The darkness,

Or fear,

We will never know.

Then the ground,

Began to shake,

And the people began to quiver.

The surface shifted,

Beneath their feet.

And the moon was no longer a sliver.

One person shrieked,

The other screamed,

One was knocked right off their feet.

The sand was picked up

By the wind,

As people were begging;

"Cleanse me from my sins!"

But the ground didn't care,

That the people were in despair.

And it for sure,

Showed no mercy.

As roofs were being ripped

From house tops, and buildings,

A forceful whisper said;

"You have been warned,"

As families were being torn

And every possible, "I love you,"

Was said.

The very next day,

Not a person could say,

That they survived,

That terror.

The lands swallowed them up,

Although it was their own fault,

Because of their depressing manner.

The cracked buildings,

Tall as they used to stand,

Were crumbled to dust,

A replica of the sand.

Although the people were strange,

And always feeling dismay,

There is one little thing,

I can surely say today.

That terribly violent quake,

Was definitely no mistake.
