Chapter 3

"Ahhhhhh! Ahghhh!"

You're in a daze, barely conscious of anything but the pain.

"Lance! Hold her down!"

"I'm trying!" Hands are clamped down on your left leg. Excruciating pain is sent up your body as you feel something embed into your skin.

"AHHHHHHHHH! AGHHHHHHHH!" You try to jerk away.

"Shiro!" The hands leave your leg. "There has to be another way! We-we can't do this to her!"

"Do you want her to die?!!! Because that is what's gonna happen if we don't do this! Look! Her skin is turning green! She's infected! Not even a pod could save her now if the system was running! I don't want to have to do this, Lance! But it's the only way! Now, do you want to save her or no?!"

There's a pause. "Okay." Lance sounds pained. "Just please, try not to hurt her?"

"I can't promise that, Lance. Do you see what I'm about to do?"

"I know." The hands return to your leg and you feel yourself being forced down. "It'll be over soon," A soft voice murmurs before you black out from the pain.

A cool, damp cloth is on your forehead. You groan lightly, and the stroking stops. Your eyes flutter open. Allura is looking down at you concerned, a wet towel clutched in her hand.

"Wh-what happened?" You mumble, looking around, blinking at the bright lights. You're in a bed in a peaceful looking room. Your whole body except for your head is covered in a blanket.

"You-you don't remember?" Allura asks timidly.

"I-I remember being on a table, and there was pain, so much pain. And blood. There was blood everywhere." You look up at her, your Adam's apple bobbing.

"I see," Allura tries to get you to relax. "Here, let me-" She extends her hand with the towel in it.

"No," You shake your head and she falters. "How long have I been out?"

"A few days," Allura bites her lip.

"What?!"

"Please, just relax." She brings the towel closer again.

"No," You turn your head away. "I want to get up."

"(Y/N), I don't think that's such a-"

You try to sit up and nearly topple over, both from imbalance and dizziness. Allura grabs you to keep you from falling out of the bed. You flop onto your back, wincing a little out of soreness. You try to push yourself up again, but fail.

"What the-" You try to touch the blankets with your right hand.

You can't.

You're suddenly aware of your right leg, alone under the sheets. You look at Allura, horrified. She backs away slowly, a hand covering her mouth. "What did you do?!"

You grab the blankets with your left hand and rip them off yourself.

You scream. You turn to Allura gain. "WHAT DID YOU DO?!" You cry. Angry and shocked, tears start pouring down your cheeks. "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?!"

There's footsteps and running. Shiro bursts through the door, Lance and Keith hot on his tail. They stare at you as you sob hysterically into your left hand.
