Recap: Austin's dad is in recovery and they don't know if he'll make it or not.
"Austin, let me take you guys home for the night. You're exhausted and you need rest. Cody needs to get in bed, changed and fed. Your dad will be just fine, I promise," Zach tries to convince me but I'm still worried.
"I don't know, Zach. I can't just leave him here, y'know? What if something goes wrong and he dies? Or what if he wakes up and asks for me and I'm not there? That would crush him," I cried out.
"Austin, they'll call you if something happens. I'll even go make sure if that would make you feel better!" he got up and had started to walk towards the front desk. After a couple of minutes he came back with a paper to fill out with my information to get ahold of me and all of that. I had filled everything out and packed Cody up. Zach was carrying her diaper bag and I was carrying Cody as we made our way out to the truck.
The ride was really quiet. As the short drive went on, I could feel my eyelids drooping. Finally, we had made it back to my car and Zach had helped me get Cody buckled up again. After talking with Zach for a minute, I had offered for him to come over and watch a movie and have dinner. He had excepted eagerly. Once I had pulled into my drive way, Cody was starting to fuss so I parked and cut the engine. I unbuckled my angel and grabbed her car seat along with her diaper bag, Zach following behind. I grab the door knob and twist but only to find it locked. I have a hard time handling everything while looking for my key on my key ring. Finally, after fumbling my keys, I had managed to get the key inside of the key hole and open the door. I kicked it wide open and walked in. I took my shoes off and walked up the stars with Zach following behind. I push open my door and set Cody down on my bed. She had started to whine and cry on the way up here so I put her diaper bag down and unstrapped her from the seat. I layed her down on her changing table and stripped her down. I took and tub from underneath and brought it with me into the bathroom. I filled the tub up with luke warm water and some bubbles. I walked back into the bedroom and sat the tub on the changing table and sat Miss Cody inside. I set her up perfectly to where she would sit up, buckled in so she didn't fall over or anything. I told Zach to keep an eye on her while I go down stairs to make her a bottle. I pulled out a bottle from the fridge and put it in the microwave. After it was warmed up, I walked up stairs to see Zach bathing Cody. It was the cutest sight that I had ever seen! I couldn't resist the urge to pull my phone out and take a quick picture of the sight before me. I smiled to myself and decided that it was time to get her fed and into bed considering it was going on 9 o'clock. I stood next to Zach and looked at his facial features. He looked kind of scared and confused. I laughed,
"Want some help?" I asked.
"Please, I feel as if I'm doing it wrong and I don't want to hurt her. I'm not good at this," he had admitted shyly to me.
"You're doing fine. You're not going to hurt her at all! You're a natural at this. Hell, you could pass as a father right now," the last part had slipped out and I could already feel the heat rushing to my cheeks. Why did I just say that!? Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Maybe he wont be so weirded out and just blow it off. No, I doubt that. He'll probably never want to talk to me after this or even want to be in a part of my life.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that last part. You're too young to even think about having kids right now," I say quickly and take over what he was doing.
"I'm not too young. I'm older than you and you have a child. Plus, being a father to this child wouldn't be so bad. Plus, it means I would be able to be with her amazing, beautiful, caring, mother, " he had replied back, making my heart beat faster and me fumbling over my words. I could feel the heat growing stronger in my cheeks and warm fuzzy feeling inside of my stomach. Zach had came over to me and lifted my chin so that he was looking directly in my eyes. He spoke first,
"I mean it Austin. You're an amazing mother, great girl, beautiful, inside and out, funny, you make me laugh, smile, feel wanted, and I want to be apart of this little girls life. Plus, yours. I promise you, you wont regret it. If you don't like it, we can end it but I want a chance to show you that what I'm saying, is true. Can you give me that?" he looked directly into my eyes and I could tell that he was telling the truth, no lies about it. Without thinking, I had wrapped my arms around his neck and smashed my lips onto his. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him to where there was no space between us. The kiss ended and I couldn't help but smile up at him.
"I take that as a yes so to make this right, Will you, Austin, be my girlfriend?"
"Yes!" I was overly excited about this because he was truly an amazing guy and he cared for not only me but Cody and that made me like him just that much more! Cody started to cry again. I untangled myself from Zach and picked Cody up and wiped her down. I put some baby lotion all over her so that she'll be all nice and smooth. I grabbed a diaper and placed that on her and put her in a onesie. I wrapped her up in a money blanket and grabbed her bottle. I walked down stairs while motioning for Zach to follow along. I placed the bottle to Cody's lips and she hungerly took the nipple in her mouth. Slowly, her eyes started drooping down until she was sleeping peacefully in my arms. After, she finished her bottle, I placed her beside the couch in her play pin to sleep. I look towards Zach to see that he has already started dinner. A pizza. I walk over to him and sit on one of the stools.
"So, the pizza should be ready in about 5 minutes. What movie do you want to watch?" Zach had asked while setting our plates out.
"How about Bad Grandpa? I haven't seen it yet," I suggested.
"You haven't? Well, you're not missing out on much. It's not as funny as I thought it would be but oh well. We can watch it!" Once he finished his sentence the oven went off, indicating the pizza as done. I went and grabbed it out of the oven and sliced it up evenly. I took two pieces and walked into the living rom, putting the movie in. I sat next to Cody's play pin and Zach had sat right next to me. I got comfortable next to Zach ad waited for the movie to play.
