Gabriella's POV
1864
I was awakened by the slam of the front door to our house. My eyes fluttered open as I ran to my bedroom window to see what was happening, I could see my brothers running towards the woods that surrounded the Salvatore house.
Quickly, I ran down the stairs, still in my nightgown and headed out of the door chasing after them.
After a few moments of running through the woods barefoot, I could see them in the distance."Stefan! Damon...wait!" I shouted at the top of my lungs and my speed picked up.
"Ella! What are you doing here?" Damon questioned, both of his hands on my shoulders making sure I'm alright.
"I saw you leave, where are you going?" I asked, confused and scared that they were going to leave me alone with father
"We have to save Katherine, they have her and they'll kill her" Stefan replied as him and Damon exchanged glances, they both started running again, however this time I was with them.
After a few minutes of running, we arrived at a carriage, the men were shoving these people inside and Katherine was the last to be shoved in before it was locked. Damon ran ahead screaming Katherine's name as Stefan and I followed. Don't get me wrong, I hated Katherine but I didn't want her to die.
"We have to get her out of there!" Stefan cried as he pulled at the lock that kept them trapped.
"Stop!" Was all we heard, before we turned around to see a group of men with guns pointed towards us and my father leading them. Immediately Stefan and Damon stood in front of me protectively, both of their hands in front of me to stop me moving forward.
"She's a monster!" My father yelled, pointing to Katherine. I wondered what he meant by that.
"She's not father, we love her and we will save her!" Damon shouted back at him before looking over at Katherine who looked petrified.
"She has you both under her spell too" father replied looking between the two of them.
"...shoot them" he muttered to the men beside him. That's when two gunshots filled my ears, and my brothers fell to the ground before me.
"No!!!!!!" I yelped as I dropped to the floor beside them, tears running down my cheeks. I shook them, trying to wake them up but it was no use. Their white shirts were now red, their skin pale, their breath gone.
"How could you?" I cried as my father walked towards me. I wipe the tears from my face and stood before him.
"They were just like her, a vampire and you know it" he says between gritted teeth as he grabs me.
"No, you're lying" I shake my head trying to stop the tears from flowing again. That's when I see my fathers hand lift and and feel the sting on my cheek as he slaps me. It's not the first time he's done it so it doesn't shock me. I quickly run away back into the woods, running as fast as I can, the tears now streaming as my brothers covered in blood keeps coming back into my mind. It's no use, I stop in the middle of the trees and slump to the floor, and scream.
"Ella, I'm so sorry" a voice mutters softly, I look up to see Katherine looking down at me. How did she escape?
"They're dead! Because of you!" I yell at her as I remember my father saying they were like her.
"You-you're-you're a vampire" I stutter as I stand up trying to walk away. Suddenly she appears in front of me, her eyes dark.
"Yes I am, your brothers still loved me more than you. You know, you've been testing my patience lately." She says angrily, I try to move away but she grabs hold of me, her grip strong.
"Your brothers adored you. They wanted to keep you out of harms way. So that's why I have to do this..." she trails off as I feel a sudden pain in my stomach. I look down to see a knife covered in blood. I fall to the floor as I hold my hand over the wound and then everything went dark.
I really hope you enjoyed the first chapter!! It was just an introduction to how the Salvatore's became what they are. Thanks for reading...
