the rain-sopped soon after I shifted back
Elton let me borrow one of his sweaters in case it started raining.
before we left the cave I pulled the hood all the way over my head. then since the sand was still wet I double knotted my shoe laces and pulled up my socks.
"ready" I told the fam as we got all our stuff. "let's bounce" Corey says with swag as he leads the way. Elton follows behind core and I and Sam follow a couple feet behind them. "Do you really think it had something to do with the cave?" I ask sam as I glance his way. "It's the only thing that makes some sense. If it's never happened before then yeah I believe it's the cave" Sam says to me. I shrug.
When we get back to the beach the school was at we look around and find no one. "Yeah, they're gone..." Elton confirms. "How are we gonna get back? Do we go back to school? Do they even know we're gone!" Corey starts to worry. "I bet Dan looked for me, to try and drown me again" Sam groans.
"Wait, if there's nowhere to go, then maybe we can stay here.... Look around boys we have the beach to ourselves!" Elton exclaims as he tosses his hands in the air.
"We should check out the cave again!" I say to Sam as I turn to face him. "Let's go boys!" Elton says with excitement. "That a way!" I exclaim as I point to the direction f the cliff were Sam nearly died...
Elton started running, we all followed, going fast, laughing and smiling.
In that moment all the problems and worries we were faced with just, slipped away...
When we reached the beginning of the hill we all came to a stop.
Sam took a step back. I looked back at him, his face was full of fear and mixed emotions.
"Sam? Are you okay?" I ask him with concern. "Y-Yeah, I just... N-Need to take it s-slow" He stutters. "I won't let you fall off the cliff" I tell Sam, he gives me a weak smile. I give him a pat on the shoulder then slowly start up the hill towards the cliff.
"So what did happen?" Corey asks with suspicion. "Dan and company threw me off the cliff..." Sam mumbles with annoyance as he keeps his gas on the ground.
"Dan and Brad pushed Sam over the edge, they didn't know he can't swim...." " I CAN SWIM I JUST CHOSE NOT TO" Sam shouted. everyone was now staring at him. "Sam? what is it...." I asked him.
it was then when I noticed Sam's eyes were beginning to tear up. "I know how to swim, but then when I'm actually in the water I forget how to do everything" Sam says as he wipes his eyes on his sleeve.
"it's okay, just stay here" I tell Sam as Elton and Corey and I continue the climb.
Once we reach the top I get Deja veu, cause I have been here before. I look out at the ocean bellow, the waves aren't ruff and they're no rock beneath us, if I jumped again I'd be perfectly fine.
"Here was where I jumped after Sam, the cave was about... 15 feet? Under the surface, I don't exactly remember" I say, scratching my head. "Do we jump?" Elton says as he takes a step closer to the edge. "No... Didn't you say there was another entrance?" Corey says to me. "Yeah but it's a maze in there..." I try to backtrack in my mind, there' no way we'd find the entrance.
"Well I ain't jumping you know I have a fear of heights" Corey says to Elton. "I could jump, try to use my abilities if I find anything I'll resurface" I suggest to them. "No, we don't even know what you can do yet" Corey tells me. "this would be a good way to figure out what he can do"Elton points out. "No, don't do it" Corey warns me. I shake my head. "Don't worry Corey, trust me" I tell Corey as I put my hand on his shoulder. "It's not that I don't trust you, I DON'T TRUST THESE POWERS YOU HAVE!" Corey exclaims as he tosses his hands in the air.
I ignore them as I dive into the deep blue sea.
The water covered my body and I felt at peace.
Then my legs glued together and I had the tail again.
I let my dive lead me down until all that pressure was gone and I was just swimming.
I went back to the cave and made sure I knew how to get in. Then I swam back to the surface.
"GUYS! Get down here we need to check out this cave. Maybe we can find a way to reverse all,this " I say to them as I show my tell from under the waves.
Elton got ready to dive then did a running jump. He did a summersaults in the air then splashed into the water.
"YEAHAH!" Elton exclaims as he tosses his hair out of his face.
We look back up and don't see Cory and Sam. "HEY? Guys? Anyone there?" Elton tells up.
"I'm gonna swim from the beach, Sam's gonna keep watch" Corey yells.
"OKAY!" I respond.
Soon later Corey comes and explains how he swam around the cliff and how Sam refused to go into the water.
After that we swam down and into the cave.
"Woah... This is so cool bro!" Corey says as we hover on the surface of the water in the cave.
Elton and Corey got out of the water and examined the walls of the cave, I told them I'd stay in the water and check out what's down here.
The cave was made out of stone and rocks.
But it all looked normal... Nothing was different about it.
I kinda hopped I'd touch something and I'd have my legs back...
But I mean, how bad can being part fish be?
