Today is the day I go to my new school. I'm really nervous. What if people don't like me? What if people judge me for who I really am? I shake the questions out of my head and get up from my bed. It's currently 6:45 A.M. I have about 1 hour to get ready. I go into the shower and turn the water on. I wash my dark black hair with coconut scented shampoo. I then wash my body with vanilla scented body wash.

10 minutes after taking a shower, I air dry my hair as I pick my outfit for today. I picked out dark blue shorts, a blank tank-top that says "Diamond Supply Co." on it, black knee socks and black vans. I waited a little longer for my wavy hair to dry. Once it did, I straighten it out and put on a black beanie.

I don't know if you noticed but my favorite color is black. I checked the time on my black iPhone. It read 7:40. I put my phone in my back pokey and put my backpack on, then went to the kitchen. "Mom lets go I'm going to be late." I said. "Ok, get a snack to go so you won't be hungry." I did as she said and got a granola bar. We both rushed into the car and drove off.

'Compton Middle School' I read in my mind. "Here we are." My mom said as she parked the car. "Be safe, don't cause any trouble." I rolled my eyes. "Yes mom." I opened the car door and jumped off. "Bye Summer." I waved goodbye and watched as the car drove away. I walked to the school entrance ignoring the stares from the students here.

I found the office and entered. I walked up to the attendance lady. "Hi, I'm Summer I'm new here. I'm suppose to meet with Principal Wood?" She cleared her throat. "Yes right this way." She gestured me to follow her which I did. She lead me to a room that had a sign that read Principal's Office. She told me to sit on one of the chairs as she left to get the principal.

Few minutes later she arrived with the principal. "Hello, you must be Summer. I'm the principal of Compton Middle School." He smiled. "It's nice to meet you." I kindly shook hands with him. "Here is your class schedules. Since you're new here, would you like someone to show you around?" I was hesitant about answering the question because most people don't like me. "Yes, that would be nice." I smiled . "Great. Now yo-" He was interrupted with a knock on his door. "Enter."

A boy with dark brown hair and brown eyes came in. "May I help you Steven?" Mr. Wood said. "My teacher sent me hear because I was being disruptive." Steven said. Mr. Wood stood quiet. "Steven, I would like you to show our knew student, Summer around." He looked at me and smiled. "Sure, I'd like that." He smirked and turned away. "Perfect. It's almost lunch time, go grab your things and come back." He commanded Steven.

Moments later her came back and we left the office. The bell rang signaling it was lunch time. "Hi, I'm Steven." He smiled. "Yeah I kinda figured. I'm Summer." I smiled. "Cute name. So tell me about yourself."

"Well I'm 13, I like videography & photography, my favorite color is black & I love to skateboard." I said proudly. "Really? I never met a girl who actually skateboarded." We laughed and talked more.

"Yeah so then after we-" I was cut off my a girl shoving me. "Hey why did you do that for?!" She was wearing a pink skirt that was really short, a white crop top, a million pounds of makeup that made her look like a Barbie and had he blonde hair curled. "Oops my bad." She laughed. I rolled my eyes at her.

"Britney, be nicer she's new here." Steven said. "Ugh clearly." She pulled out a gum from her backpack and chewed it obnoxiously. She glared at me, which I did back. "So wanna hang out right now?" She twirled her hair with her fingers as she put her hands on Steven's shoulder. "Later babe, I need to show her around." Her face turned red and gave me a dirty look.

"Whatever." She smirked as if she had an idea in her head. "See you later Steven." She leaned in and kissed him, as if she was trying to make me jealous, which didn't work. I ignored her. She finally left and we both went into the cafeteria.

"You hungry?" He asked me getting his lunch. "Not really." I lied. You're probably wondering why I'm lying. It's because I'm very insecure about my weight. I'm not skinny like those girls in those fan fictions or whatever. I don't have a thigh gap. I don't have a flat stomach. I wish I had those things but unfortunately, I'm stuck with what I have. So I just have o accept myself for who I am, whether I like it or not.

30 minute later the bell rang signaling lunch was over. "What classes do you have next?" I pulled out my schedule and handed it to him. "Yay! We have all periods with each other." I smiled as we head to our 4th period class.

(If you're wondering, they're all in 8th grade.)
