The night sky was often visible here. No lights drowned out the sight of the stars. It was my favorite part about being away from the big city. The only part I loved really, but tonight was different. The clouds covered the sky. The head lights, of my car, barely shone bright enough for me to see. I was quietly singing along to a favorite song of mine. The words rolling off my tongue in perfect harmony with the radio, when all of a sudden I saw two tiny, yet bright, flashes of light in the trees. I just shook my head at the thought of what it could be. I laughed at everything that went on in my mind. All the different scenarios it could be. I drove around the next curve and continued to sing along with the radio when two gun shots rang. The shots were followed by a loud pop then the screeching of my tires as I drove straight into a tree.
The air bags deployed causing me to smack the back of my head against the head rest. My screams filled the air, just before another gun shot was heard, and I felt a sharp pain in my side. My hand instinctively moved to my wound to stop the blood flow, but it kept pouring out. I shakily tried to open the door so I could escape. Once I made it out blood dropped down my hands and fell into the snow. The sight was horrifyingly beautiful. The contrast of colors, and the shapes it made.
A moan quietly escaped my lips as I pressed into the wound harder, and I started to walk away from the car. Another shot rang making me fall to the ground. It was my shoulder this time. I just laid there in agony accepting my fate. Knowing this would be the end. Whether they killed me, or I bled out.
A face soon appeared above me as they pointed a barrel to my head. I looked passed the person, not wanting to know who the killer was, and looked into the beautiful sky. The clouds had parted to show me my favorite constellation, Orion, and then everything was black.
