Chapter 1 | We are good kids
A home. A home means where people cares for you, they keep you feel loved, give you a feel, feeling of protection. And the most wonderful thing of all of it. Happiness. Happiness of being together, loved, and protection.
But when a home breaks apart. Its become sorrowful. Seeing your loved ones breaking away from each other, it is the worst thing. They broke their promises. A promise to be together as long as they live. Its hurts the most. Trust me.
I frown and tuck my sleeves more down, feeling a little bit uncomfortable. My little sister, Lil was sitting next to me with her old worned teddy, and she was smiling down at her Mr. Ted, the teddy of bunnies.
Her jet black hair was braided neatly. Well not perfectly because I braided it. Also She wore a blue old dress with white socks on.
She sometime whispers something in her teddy's ear and looks at me.
I wiggle my eyebrows, and she smiles.
"You looking pretty today, Miss" she compliments.
"You too, Miss Lil" I smile back.
She opened her mouth to say something more but cut off by a siren sound. Or rather I say sister Jennie's high pitched voice.
"Rose ! Lil ! There you are" she stops near our bench and fixes her grown.
"Where were you two ? Miss Ray has been looking for you two all morning"
I smile and get up .
"Here, hanging around. So how are you ?"
She rolls her eyes.
"Pretty fine, and I know Miss ray can be little bit annoying, she sometimes even annoy the hel-"
She coughs and continues.
"I said heaven. Jesus. So. As I said before, heaven out of me. But she's nice you know ?"
"Sure Jennie" I smile and held my hand out for my sister. She quickly held my pinky finger and gets up from her sit.
"We will be get going"
Saying, we walk down the corridor. The corridor was quite long and big. Kids and teenagers, mostly kids were playing around. Lil was happily trudging along with me, swinging our hold hands up and down.
Sometime I will walk fast to annoy her. But she just quenches her face and looks at me like I just committed a big crime.
Where is the lie. She has small legs. And here I am taking advantages of being bigger than her, having longer legs are fun.
"You are annoying, stop" she complains and pouts.
But I do more what I was doing. Now I am running.
"Stop !" She giggles.
"Nope, let's go ! See who is the fastest !" I holler but stops as we saw the monster.
Or more I say our room cleaner and someone standing, hands on their hips
"Rose ! Did you again put garbage bags in my closest ?!"
He looks really angry. Stopping, and replying doesn't look any good to me other than trouble. But you know I did. I replied. This is how I am.
"No Mr. Raven ! We didn't do it !" I said bravely.
"Are you telling me the truth ?" He glares.
"Yes ! She didn't do it " Lil nods at him, making him believe it. Kid's power.
"I see" he thinks for a moment then he says "you can go now" and pats Lil's head.
"Be always a good girl, Lil" she smiles and we get going.
Miss Ray's office room was in end of the corridor. But We went there quickly as we continued our game.
But we didn't went there directly. As we mostly I wanted to avoid it. She only calls us when there are something needed. We went to the kitchen and stole some cookies and biscuits. We ate it under the table. We got almost caught, when I accidentally knocked off a old vase. But we ran from the place and saved ourselves.
Then we went to the office room
I knock the door twice and Lil once, before we heard a deep voice asking us to come in.
Miss Ray smiles at us as she saw us. Lil smiles back and waves.
"Ah ! Rose and Lily my children !" She exclaims loudly. She got up from her chair and hugs us, both.
"I have a good news !"
But I became aware of it. I never liked the idea of my sister and I getting adopted in a different families. Because i know she will need me, and I will need her. Before she could continue I shook my head.
"No ! She isn't getting adopted ! No one can take my sister away from me"
My breath was quicken by then and my voice sounded hoarse.
Her eyes drifted away from my sister to my eyes. And Her eyes were full of understanding and sadness. Her eyes wanted to tell something.
"I know its hurt Rosalia"
I get down on my knees quickly and hug my sister tightly. She hugs me back and kisses my forehead.
"You need to let her grow in a family where they can cherish her" Miss Ray also gets down and hugs us.
"Not in a orphan house"
"I know" I replies. But my voice sounded like a whisper.
She kisses our heads and gets back on her feet, with our help. After getting up, She pats my back, encouragingly.
"And no one is taking your sister away from you,my child" she smiles as she says.
"Are we getting adopted ? Is the kind person, adopting both of us ?" Lil peaks in.
"Yes my dear" she smiles and nods at Lil. She jumps and giggles.
But I was too shocked to speak anything. I just stares at her.
"Did you forget to tell it my age ?" I gasps.
"It is a he. And yes I did tell him, Rose" she confirms.
"But-"
"Roselia, look. You need to understand" she looks all sad now. I became silent then. And looked ahead of her.
"You are going to step in your adulthood soon, you cant fulfill your dreams by living here, in the orphan. We can't even provide enough of your needs. You need a home, a family to look after you and your sister. You and your sister will be happy there Rose" she pleases.
I nod and shifted at my leg.
"He is waiting for you two in the waiting room" she smiles and gazing at the brown wood door next to the old book selves.
I hesitate but Lil held my pinky finger and made me trudged along with her.
"Don't worry Rosie !" She smiles and opens the door, excitedly. The man who was sitting on the sofa, was quietly looking around the room. When he saw us, he stands up. And smiles down at us.
He wasn't really old, around mid thirties. He was tall and leaned figure. He wore a black button up shirt with denims.
"Hi little one" he couches down, smiling and waving at Lil. She was little shy when she met new people.
She looks down shyly. The man quickly reaches for something behind him.
"I have something for you" he takes out a teddy dog from behind his back.
"I got you and your friend a friend"
He smiles when she reaches for it with her old Mr. Ted.
Once she took it, he gets up in his feet and looks at me, smiling.
"Hello Roselia"
