Jack pulled up to the gates of a facility in the middle of a forest. A man with a torch came over to him.
"ID"
Jack pulled up a professional looking badge with an ID supplement on it. The man did a signal to the gatekeeper who opened them. Jack drove inside and parked his car. He got out, walked to the doors and went in. There was a huge room with a large wooden table in the middle of it. 7 men in suits sat at one side and 3 men on the other side who wore over-alls with the NASA logo on them.
"Sit down, Jack."
Jack found a seat in the middle.
"You men are to be launched into space in 2 days time and..."
"Two days?! You expect me to leave my family at this early of a notice?"
"Yes. Anyway, this is for the fate of humanity. Tonight you will familiarise yourself with the cockpit of the rocket that will launch you into space. After, you will separate into your probes and disconnect from the main booster. Afterwards, you are alone for 2 years at least."
The men stood up and walked through a door. Jack followed them. This lead to a launch room with a huge rocket with 4 small lumps off of the side.
"This will be your home for up to 7 years. Make yourself comfortable."
