Once upon a time, there was a beautiful mermaid named Nozomi. Nozomi wanted nothing more but to explore the human world. She sighed as she stared into the sunset, laying on the rocks by the seaside. She heard the water move close by her, and saw her little fish friend, Hanayo, with an urgent expression on her face.
"What's wrong, Hanayo?" the mermaid asked.
"Your father! He is expecting you to be back by now!" the little fish exclaimed.
"Oh ok, let's head back now," the mermaid replied.
As the mermaid climbed off the rocks, she slid into the ocean and quickly swam back home.
TIME SKIP TO H O M E
As Nozomi arrived at the castle, she heard her name.
"NOZOMI," a loud, booming voice called out.
Nozomi cringed before swimming towards the voice. She knew what was coming.
"Yes father?" Nozomi said shyly.
"Nozomi, you are late. What if a human sees you? What if they capture you? What would we do? What would I do?" the king boomed.
"I-I don't know.. we could set a s-search party? Or we c-could send someon..." before Nozomi could finish her sentence, her father cut her off.
"HOW ON EARTH COULD WE FIND YOU?! WE ARE MERMAIDS! WE CANNOT GO TO THE SURFACE, WE'LL SHRIVEL UP AND DIE!" the king boomed.
"King Sonoda," a quiet voice called out.
The purple hair king turned around and saw his assistant, Nico.
"Ah, Nico. Are you here to look after her?" He asked, gesturing over to Nozomi.
"Yes sir," Nico replied.
Nozomi finally spoke up. "I don't want anyone to take care of me!" and swam away....
