I woke up to the cool morning breeze blowing at my face and the soft mutter of people walking in and out of the tube. I looked at my watch.

*8:15*

I'd slept in quite late considering I was on the streets. I slowly began to stand up and I suddenly felt a sharp shooting pain run through my back. I guess that's what happened when you slept on a cold damp floor, using a rucksack as a pillow... I began to walk through the tunnel until I eventually emerged into the outside. The sun was shining and it thankfully felt warmer then the day before. I could see the centre not to far away and I began to walk there.

By the time I arrived it was about quarter to 9. My stomach began to rumble and I bent over and grabbed it. I was starving. I hadn't ate since yesterday breakfast as I was too scared and anxious about what might happen. I looked in my bag. There was one tin of beans left. I must of dropped some last night in the woods. I cursed under my breath and walked to the markets.

What I was about to do made me feel so ashamed but I had no choice. As I was walking through the market I could see people staring at me and whispering. I must of looked awful, with my swollen nose and not to mention the stench of urine surrounding me. I somehow managed to ignore them and carry on to the bread stand. The bread stand was in the market and they made and sold the most amazing tasting bread. Mom used to always buy from there! As I got closer I seen the owner staring at me and when our eyes met she quickly looked away.

"Umm Good morning" The owner mumbled trying not to breathe due to my awful smell. "Any type of particular bread you would like?" She asked. I could tell she wanted me gone as potential customers had walked away.

"No thanks, just looking" I was waiting for the right time. The right time to steal some bread. I knew it was bad, and disgusting but I was starving. I had no choice. I waited about 5 minutes staring at all the different types of bread, before she turned around to get a water bottle from her bag. That was my chance. I grabbed two loafs of bread and ran.

"Get her!" I heard the woman scream behind the stand. I glanced back to see 3 security guards chasing after me. I ran fast. Even faster than the day before when I was trying to get home. The guards would not give up. They were getting further and further away every time I checked. After about 20 minutes of running I finally stopped and fell up against a wall, gasping for breath. I had no idea where I was but it didn't look familiar. I sat down under the nearest tree and wiped the sweat from my forehead with my hand. I began to eat my bread and with every bite I took I began to feel more and more guilty. I had stole enough bread for that day and maybe the next. But I had no idea how I was going to survive. What was I going to do?
