Hazel's POV:
As soon as the girls arrive home, Hazel bolts to the large backyard.
"Hazel, where are you going", Ashley calls after her sister. "You know we have homework to do!"Hazel had a strong urge to discuss what happened back in he alleyway, but Ashley's face told otherwise. She was acting as if nothing ever happened. Her older sister often did that with things like this - lock all the bad memories away, to never speak of again - and eventually Ashley the memories were completely gone. Erased from her mind - at least Hazel
Thought they were. There was one memory - or vision, whatever you want to call it - that had stuck with Hazel all eleven years of her life, but she had never completely understood what it meant. The two sisters had a vague memory of when Hazel was just a newborn and Ashley was three. All Hazel remembered was being in a forest, hearing screaming, seeing red hot flames everywhere.... and blood..... lots of it. Ashley and Hazel decided it was just a dream, or something they had made up to make believe there parents died as heroes, or something, but none of it seamed real. They just concluded that it wasn't the truth and their parents had died in a house or forest fire, or something. Yet another memory for Ashley to lock away never to be remembered or spoken of again, but not Hazel.
Hazel knew she needed to tell someone about the incident. Her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elfairez? The police? But who would believe a little eleven year old kid, anyway?Hazel decided to keep her mouth shut.
"C'mon, a little playtime wouldn't hurt that much, would it?" Hazel said pleadingly. "Especially after.... Never mind", she finishes. Not wanting to destroy Ashley's peculiar good mood.
Ashley narrows her eyes. "Fine" she says plainly. "But only for a little while. You know I have work to do."
Hazel skips through the gate and into the backyard Ashley following close behind. "Sooooo what should we play?" Hazel asks, clasping her hands together. "Super heroes?" Hazel does a twirl and pulls an imaginary sword out of her back pocket, pointing it at her sister. Hazel looses her balance and falls on her stomach on the patio.
Ashley can't help but laugh and say "is that sword too heavy for you?"
"Naaaa, not for the warrior!". Hazel replies with a giggle and - of course - showing off her muscles. Then she gasps, "Oooh!" Hazel leaps up and runs over the garage. She spots a long metal pole and grabs it. Despite its weight, for some reason has no problem lifting it. She takes the rod and climbs onto the glass table.
"Hazel", Ashley says, "please don't get any bad ideas! And definitely don't do anything stupid - like always!" In response, Hazel hurls the pole through the air with such force that it sends dirt flying out of the ground when it makes contact. "I AM A WARRIOR PRINCESS! BOW DOWN TO ME!!!", she screams and jumps off the table.
She hits the ground with a loud CRACK, and she and Ashley both freeze. The sisters could have sworn that the ground even shook a little. The two girls freeze, staring at each other wide eyed, but it was not the breaking of bones they had heard. It was the concrete.
"Hazel?" Ashley says slowly. "What did you just do?" "I-I dunno" Hazel stammers. The rocks in the patio where Hazel landed has literally cracked and crumbled beneath her. What are we going to tell the Elfairez's now? Hazel thought frantically. They always cared so much for their riches and never let the sisters lay their 'careless-filthy-child-hands' on anything that belonged to them.
As if on cue, Mr. and Mrs. Elfairez explode from the back door. "What's going on out here children?!" Mr. Elfairez says sternly. No one utters a sound. "Well?!" he yells again, an edge to his voice that always made the girls fear him.
"Mr.- ahhh- I-I'm so so s-sorry!" Hazel stutters. "I-I don't know what happened, ho-honestly!-Ahhh-S-Sir."
Mrs. Elfairez holds up her hand - the one with all the diamond rings on it, and Hazel's mouth snaps shut. "Not another word" she says with her slight English accent. "Go to your room."
"You mean your room", Hazel murmurs."
"NOW!" the sisters' foster mother yells, again. "And you will be washing the car tomorrow"
Of corse - the limousine. Sometimes Ashley and Hazel thought their foster parents loved their possessions more than they did the girls.
This is not Cinderella! I refuse to accept this! It's time they learn a lesson! Hazel thought. I have a punishment for you too.
Hazel draws back her leg and throws all her anger into one kick at one of the rocks from the broken patio. The rock shoots forward at speeds Hazel didn't even know wet humanly possible. Hazel and Ashley both let out a sharp gasp as the rock collides with the wall of the Elfairez mansion. Hazel watches as spiderwebs instantly spread across a group of bricks from their core, and white paint chips off, crumbling to the floor, like rain.
"I'm sorry!" Hazel cries out and flings open the back door to the luxurious mansion and rushes upstairs to her, or rather the Elfairez bedroom with tears streaming down her cheeks.
(Hey guys!!! I am soooooo sooooo sorry for the lack of updates!!! I don't mean to make excuses, but I have been dealing with a lot of midterms and other tests lately in school, but I'm managing!! And I have published another chapter which is what really matters, right?! I'll admit that the book is pretty boring so far, but I am trying my very best to make the story as interesting as possible. I actually never used to like reading and writing but I ended up falling in love with it thanks to an English teacher I had last year who really made English class come alive, for me. When the prologue is complete, which is in like two more chapters, the real action will begin!!! The very first chapter of the story will really draw you in!!! I already know what I am going to write.
Also, I really hate the format I'm using so far and writing in the third person, or whatever I'm doing, so ill just continue with this format for now and start writing in each character's first person POV, once I begin the actual story. Well, thank you guys SOOOOO SO much again for reading and I hope I can update more often. We've got a LOT of war, death, destruction, warrior princesses, sorrow, blowing stuff up, and super-amazingly-LIT-and-awesome stuff to write about and read!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOO!!! YEAYAH BOI!!! BYEEEEEE!!!! ;D ;)😝💩
