RYAN’S POV

“Ryan. Hey. You gotta get up.” I can faintly feel someone’s hand on my shoulder trying to shake me awake. I roll over onto my back and open my eyes slightly. I see someone hovering over me. It takes me a minute to realize that it’s Jay. Jay? Oh yeahhh, I stayed over at his house last night. I sit up in the bed. I yawn and stretch a little. Then I look over at Jay. He’s looking down at me with those perfect brown eyes of his. Ugh. I have to stop thinking like this. I cant be gay. I cant be. Maybe ill get a girlfriend, that would distract me. Yeah, that shouldn’t be too hard, all the girls in this school are all over me anyways.
“Ryan, we have school. You have to get up, unless you want to be late,” he warns.
“Alright, alright. I’m getting up,” I mumble and swing my legs over the edge of the bed. I realize I don’t have any clean clothes with me. None of Jay’s clothes would fit me; it probably wouldn’t hurt to ask though. “Hey Jay,” I start. He looks up at me, now that I’m standing up. “Do you think I could borrow a shirt and maybe a pair of jeans. They probably wouldn’t fit but I don’t have any clean clothes with me.”
“Yeah sure,” he answers. He walks over to his dresser and pulls out a gray t-shirt and a pair of jeans. “Both of these are  big on me so they will probably fit you better. If they fit you can keep them,” he offered.
“Alright, thanks,” I smiled. I took the clothes from him and went into the bathroom, not feeling comfortable changing in the same room as him, even though we were both guys. I changed into the shirt and looked in the mirror. It was definitely tight, but I actually liked the way it fit. I put the jeans on next. Those were also tight. Too tight. I took them off and put my jeans back on. I opened the door and stepped out. I felt my phone buzz in my pocket so I took it out and looked at it. I spoke to Jay while I was still looking at it.
“Hey do you happen to have an extra toothbrush I could use?” I ask. I look up and see Jay just staring at me. I look down at the shirt then back up at him. I see him look away quickly and his face turn red.
“Y-yeah hold on, ill get it,” he mumbles. It’s cute how he gets like this around me. No it’s not. Ughh, I have to stop thinking like this. I have to get a girlfriend today. My dad would kill me if I was gay. I’m not gay. I wait until he gets back. I sit on his bed and look around his room again. Right above his bed is a gay pride flag. To the right of that is a picture. I get closer to the picture, trying to see it better. It looks like Jay and another boy. The boy has his arm around Jay and-
“What are you doing?” Jay asks from behind me. I turn around and look at him. His face is even redder than before and he looks scared.
“I was just looking at this picture, I hope you don’t mind,” I respond. After a few minutes the look of fear finally fades from his face. He shakes his head and looks down.
“No, no. of course not. Sorry. Here,” he hands me the toothbrush. I take it and go into the bathroom again. I brush I teeth and run my fingers through my hair a couple times. Good enough. I walk out of the bathroom and look around, not seeing Jay. I hear someone downstairs so I head down there.
I walk in the kitchen and there is a woman in there doing dishes. “Excuse me ma’am,” I start. “Do you happen to know where Jason went?” I ask as politely as I can. She turns around and faces me.
“And who are you?” she asks. Oh yeah, I should probably introduce myself.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I am Ryan, Jason’s friend. Nice to meet you,” I smile and hold out my hand . she looks at me skeptically. After a moment she reaches out and shakes my hand.
“I’m Tracy, Jason’s mom. Did you say you were Jason’s friend? I’m sorry but if you’re just using him-“
“No, ma’am. I would never do such thing. I am new to the area and he caught my attention at school. I know he doesn’t have much friends and I honestly don’t know why that is. All I want to be is his friend.” I smile at her again. She still eyes me suspiciously but nods. I can understand why she’s acting like this. Its probably not too often Jay has a friend over.
“Well, alright. You said your name was Ryan?” she asks.
“Yes, ma’am,” I respond politely. Always good to make a good first impression. Just then Jay walks in. he doesn’t see me at first though.
“Hey mom, have you seen-“ He sees me. “Oh. Hey. I was looking for you.”
“I was looking for you before too. You weren’t in your room and I heard someone downstairs so I came down here and I ran into your mom,” I explain. I smile at him and he looks away quickly, blushing slightly.
“Well you guys get going. You’re going to be late,” his mom informs us.
“Alright. Bye!” Jay slings his backpack over his shoulder and we walk out the door together.
