Before the door had a chance to open Luna quickly hid behind Luke. Her lanky friend was greeted noisily as Luna leaned around slightly to peer at the strange boys. They were all tall and smiling largely, just joking around. It was a wonder that Luna had never heard about or even met them before. Two of them were blondish and the third a brunette. She thought they weren't going to notice her until the giggly one said,
"Hey Luke, I think you're growing another person."
The other two boys' eyes dropped down to look at her staring up at them in shock of being caught. Luke looked down at her, rolling his eyes before spinning her from behind him clumsily. The other blonde boy laughed.
"I see you finally got a girlfriend!" The other two boys started to congratulate Luke, and Luna stared up at her friend horrified before getting slightly annoyed. Why does this always happen? Luke's face was also horrified as he reached out to shove his friend.
"No Michael, she's not my girlfriend. She's been my best friend since we were five. Guys, I want you to finally meet Luna!" Luke held his hands out in a showy fashion as the three boys stared at her. The kiwi looking one smiled at her before sticking out his hand.
"Hi Luna, I'm Calum." Luna shook his hand gently, trying to smile back until another hand was offered to her.
"Hi, I'm Ashton, but you can call me Ash." Ashton giggled as his overly large hand gripped her much smaller one. Luna gave him a strange look as Ashton laughed again, until he continued saying, "You're so tiny."
Luna's face puffed up a little and was about to retort when Luke jumped in.
"And this Luna, is Michael!" Luke turned her body until she faced the last boy. She held out her hand as she looked at the pale blonde boy. He gave her a smirk as he shook her hand. Maybe these guys wouldn't be so bad.
"Ash is right, you are tiny." He laughed a little as Luke face palmed. Luna puffed up once more as she dropped Michael's hand. She was used to people telling her she was small. For crying out loud Jack and Ben had named her Shortness. However, she was close to them and knew them, they were family. Luna began walking into the living room as she heard Luke smacking the boys on the back of the head. Calum laughed as he followed her.
Curling up and perching on the couch she switched the television on. Calum sat in the armchair and kicked back. Eventually he grabbed her attention.
"Hey Luna, don't judge them too hard okay? Ashton is usually not so bad, and Michael only said it to get a rise out of you. It's kind of what he does."
Luna thought for a moment thinking that maybe Calum was right, but before she could thank him for the advice the missing three came strolling into the living room. Luke sat down next o her and stared pointedly at Michael and Ashton. Ashton caved first as he looked at Luna,
"Luna, I'm sorry. I didn't even think before I said anything. Can you forgive me?" Luna pretended to contemplate her answer, making Ashton sweat it out a little bit before Luke nudged her in the side.
"Sure Ashton all is forgiven, just wait a little while before you start in on the short jokes." She smiled at him as he sat down next to Luke. She turned her gaze to Michael. He flashed her a grin and winked.
"Listen my little wood nymph, I'm sorry for upsetting you, but your reaction was a little funny."
Luna looked over at Luke, who was pinching the bridge of his nose. Looking back at Michael she crossed her arms. They stared each other down until Calum breaks the silence.
"Listen Luna, that's probably the best you're going to get out of him for now." Luna sat in silence for a moment longer before rolling her eyes.
"Fine, I'll take it." Michael sat down next to Ashton before the boys all started chatting about their band stuff. Luna sat back and listened for a little while not really paying attention. Looks like she's going to have to get used to more jokes and nicknames. Hopefully, they can come up with some original material or it was going to get old super fast.
