Her smile isn't beautiful, everybody knows it's fake
And she hides her face in magazines to keep her thoughts at bay
Her mask is always grinning, like a clown with rosey blush,
But when the rain comes pouring down, there goes the make up, out comes the girl.

In the darkness under star light, she sits awake to ponder what kept the monster in, and takes a moment to realize that it's them.

In the darkness under star light, she sits awake to ponder what kept the monster in, and takes a moment to realize that it's them.

Her hope rests on someone who can see beyond her shades
She never stoped to realize that maybe it was her
That she's the one who kept the real girl at bay.

In the darkness under star light, she sits awake to ponder what kept the monster in, and takes a moment to realize that it's me.
