A Slightly Awkward Romance

Chapter four

Liam POV

Have you ever really regretted something? I'm sure drunk and horny me enjoyed sleeping with Lillian at the time but I doubt I'd ever do it sober.

As beautiful as Blairs laugh is it seems a bit forced. I'm sure it's really weird to think of your sister having sex all of the time.

"So Liam, what do you want to do when you leave school?" Paul asked me.

"Well sir, I'd really love to work in music and maybe start a ban-" I began before dad cut me off.

"Don't you mean you want to study business?" He said, glaring maliciously at me.

"Not particularly." I muttered under my breath.

Paul seemed to be more interested in the idea of me wanting to be in a band then in business. "You like music? Blair spends half her life listening to music. Won't catch her anywhere without her headphones. Do you play any instruments?" He asked me.

"Yeah only drums and piano. I've sung a bit in the past as well ."

"Blair plays bass guitar and sings a lot. She oft-" he began but his wife interrupted.

"Dear why don't you tell them about Lillian's recent achievements in her school cheerleading squad. I'm sure they don't want to hear you go on about some pointless musical drive Blair has now." Mary says in a pompous voice. I looked over to Blair and Lillian to see Lillian smirking gloatingly whilst Blair just seems to be looking over at her mother in amusement.

"Yes dad, tell them about how my squad went to the state championships last year and came 3rd." Lillian boasted.

"But I thought that you couldn't take part in the state championships because you sprained your wrist." Lucy said looking confused.

"Yeah but I'm on the team so like, it still counts." Lillian defended herself.

After that came a brief awkward silence before Blair breaks it. "The foods delicious Mrs. Darren. I'm absolutely in love with the potato salad."

My mum smiles hugely. She's brilliant at cooking, however I can't remember the last time any of us complimented her on it. I suppose we take her cooking for granted.

"Thank you dear." Mum says to Blair. "I'll have to give you the recipe."

"I'd love that," Blair answers. "I love cooking. I used to make a cawl every year to enter into the county show. I came third once." (In wales the county show is like a big farm show)

"The county show?" I asked because I'd never heard of it locally before. As Blair was about to answer Lillian interrupts.

"Liam do you think that I can still count coming third at state championships as my victory if I wasn't technically there?" Using quotation marks and rolling her eyes at the word technically.

I don't really know how to answer I look to Blair and she just shrugged with a entertained with it all. "I um, I suppose it depends on what you had to do with your routine before hand?" I answered in more of a question format.

"Exactly!" She said smirking to her 6 year old sister. Lucy just glared at Lillian before getting more potato.

"Lillian, why aren't you eating?" Paul asked his daughter.

"Dad I told you yesterday, I'm going vegan this month." Paul just looked confused and asked why. "Well, Kyle Jenner posted a picture on snap chat at a vegan restaurant so she's like so obviously going vegan and like if I want her to notice me then like I have to be the same as her." (Idk if Kyle is vegan or not just deal with this for me as I cba to google it. Also If any of you've seen little Britain think of Vicky...) Lillian explained with a 'duh' attitude.

I could see Blair trying her hardest not to burst out laughing. I caught her eye and suddenly she couldn't hold it in anymore. She let out a loud laugh but tried to cover it with a cough. Her mum glares at her while her dad just smiles fondly. She doesn't look a thing like her mum. She's got similar features to her dad but if they were walking down the street together I'd say that Blair and her mum were strangers.

Abrupt chapter ending I know but I cba rn so oh well. Anything you see Wales related in this is from my own personal view point as I am Welsh. Also apple now FINALLY have a welsh flag emoji 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 omg I love it.
