Detention sucks... I'm bored as fuck. Yeah okay, I did earn this detention, I called her a fuckless stuck-up bitch. But still, it sucked. I had to write a letter of apologies to my teacher and write a text on "What I could do to manage my anger the next time something bothers me". Fuck that and fuck them they can all shove that stupid text where the sun doesn't shine for all I care.

Twenty minutes till the bell, then I can go to The Shiv. Yeah, I know it's a weird name for a basketball court but it's called like that because a lot of ex-cons come out to play there and what do cons use? Shivs. There is a whole community over there. Some people even installed a bar of some sorts where you can drink when you are not playing. Really, it's more of a couple of dudes on chairs drinking beer and tequila out of a cooler but it's still something. I love going there, the guys are like my second family, they are my best friends.

- Miss Adara?

- That's me Mister Walsh, I said in a bitchy tone.

- Are you done with that letter?

- Not yet but you can ask me again when pigs can fly.

The bell rung and everyone in detention ran out of class. I walked calmly as Mister Walsh screamed "Come back miss Adara" and "We are not done here, I'll see you in detention tomorrow and every day this week". I turned around and said "I will see you there then! Bye Mister!".

I got out of this fucking prison that is school and walked to the bus stop. When I arrived, the bus did too and I got on. I sat at the back, put on my earplugs and looked out the window of the bus. Suddenly, I heard a scream and jumped out of my skin. I thought that someone is getting attacked or something but when I looked in the direction of the scream, it was just some dumb school girls that are talking about shoes or whatever. I don't really have friends at school, I mean I sympathized with a few guys in detention a while back but that's it. I know what you are thinking "She's just some girl who thinks she's a badass because she spends all her time in detention and talks back to teachers" but you are wrong. I just don't care.

Here I am telling you my story and you have no idea who I am. My name is Jezabel Adara, which means "noble" in Hebrew, and I am 18 years old. I am almost done with senior year of high school (thank god) and I have absolutely no idea what I want to do with my life. I live in London with my parents whom I love very much and my big brother, Sebastian. I'm tall (about 1m70, 5''7), I have brown eyes and brown hair that goes to the middle of my back. I will say it I am not ugly. I'm not the most beautiful girl on this planet but I'm pretty. Both my parents are from Israel but I am not Jewish, I'm an atheist. I have my five best friends, my second family, Alec and Joshua Brennan, twin brothers who are nineteen years old and half-Irish and half-Indian. They are absolutely crazy and very funny. They should be sent to the loony bin, but they always find a way to make us smile and laugh. You also have Sean Vega who is a Mexican eighteen years old born and raised in Mexico City. He moved to London a few years back and he kind of started to hang with us and became a member of our little family. The third member of our group is Jake Malik. He is the youngest in our group at sixteen. He is a goofy kid who, in the beginning, was very annoying but he kind of grew on us and he is like our little brother. Last but not least we have Damian Lewis, a twenty years old British guy. He is like the dad of our little family and my boyfriend. At first, we were just friends but time passed and we got together. We have been dating for almost a year now. Almost every day we hung out at The Shiv and played ball.

The bus stopped and I got off. The court was behind an abandoned building where homeless people go to sleep. When I arrived, I was greeted by my friends and a couple of guys we played basketball with. Most of the time, I'm the only girl here and even when one of the guys' fling came, they left pretty fast. Most of them were skanks or dumb bitches and I couldn't stand them.

- Jez! My darling! Joshua screamed in my ear.

- Shut up she's my lady! Alec said to his brothers.

They started to argue playfully screaming dumb and hilarious insults at each other. I laughed and so did Sean and Jake who came near me.

- Hey, Jez what's up? Sean asked.

- Oh nothing much, you?

- Why were you late? Jake asked out of the blue.

- Ah, miss fucking Walter stuck me with detention after school with Walsh.

- What did you do this time?

- What me?!? I said innocently, Oh nothing, I might have called her some poorly chose words.

- Like what? Sean asked laughing.

- Something along the lines of "you're a feckless stuck up bitch". Practically nothing...

We all started laughing when a set of strong arms grabbed my waist and spun me around to face the man to whom belonged the arms.

-    Hey beautiful, Damian said in a deep voice.

-   Hi babe, I responded while I leaned in for a kiss.

It got pretty heated, so much that Alec and Joshua both screamed simultaneously a loud "Ewwww!!! Get a room lovers!".

We laughed and we all went to play basketball. I got to admit, I am very good. I'm probably, with Damian one of the best players here. We played for an hour and when I was about to take a shot, I saw a car drive by really close. The window of the backseat rolled down and I saw a gun come out of the window.

-   Everyone! Get Down NOW!!! I screamed and threw myself on the ground.

Shots were fired and everybody was on the floor. During this episode, I felt Damian body get over mine to protect me. A few seconds passed and no more shots were fired. The car had gone away. We all got up and no one was hurt.

-   Those sons of bitches! Sean shouted.

-   Everybody all right? Damian asked, okay we don't have to panic, this was only to scare us don't worry.

He turned to me with a worried expression on his face.

-   Are you okay? He asked whilst pulling me in for a hug.

-   Yeah, I'm fine a little spooked that's all. You know you are pretty cute when you are worried.

-   Baby, I am ALWAYS cute, you know that. he said joking.

-   Oh yeah and ALWAYS so full of yourself, I responded.

Yeah, shootings and drive-bys were pretty much routine around here. Like I said, lots of ex-cons, criminals and gang members. Usually, no one gets hurt and if someone does, well it is usually dealt with.

-   I have to go home or else my parents will worry and don't get me started on Sebastian.

-   OK babe but text me when you get home so I know you go there safely.

-   Yeah don't worry, I said and kissed him tenderly.

During our kiss, we heard Sean say "Who the fuck are you?" and when we turned to see who he was talking to, we saw a stranger coming into the basketball court. Everyone stopped what they were doing because, first strangers don't come here and, second, after the drive-by, we were all on alert. Everyone thought the same thing as Sean: "Who the fuck was he?".
