The Cliff

You’re worthless. No one likes you. Their words echo through my head, taunting me.

You’ll never amount to anything! Why did I even have you? My parents words edges me further, inch by inch.

Wouldn’t it be nice to end the misery, to fly for a moment before plunging down towards happiness? That is what I want to do. Perhaps today will be the day.

I’m dressed warmly but that won’t matter when I’m floating in the icy water. But, perhaps, I will be dead before I hit the water.

I’m at the edge of the cliff now; I sit down and peer down at the black as ink water. I know this will be the cliff to bring me my happiness.

I scoot back then stand up. Coming towards the edge, I spread my arms out wide. Then...

I jump.

The cold wind stings my cheek as I fly downwards, towards the water.

I hit the water and my body is dragged to the unknown.

Finally, happiness...
