No! No, no, no! That did NOT just happen! I slammed the door. It didn't see me. It couldn't have. "Emmanuel!" Rushing back through the forest that I had found the door in, I shouted my brothers name as loud as I could. "Emmanuel!" I yelled louder. I dodged trees and bushes while reminiscing about what that creature could have been. An ogre? A troll? Leprechaun?
Lost in my train of thought, I had landed face first into his chest before I knew it. We both tumbled onto the ground. "What? What is it Anya?"he pestered me with a worried look on his face. I was still out of breath from the long distance I had traveled. "Anya," he snapped, grabbing my attention. "Yes, Yes. Sorry," I caught my breath. "I- I saw something, er- someone? I'm not sure," I explained, thinking back to what I had previously saw. "Anya, your talking nonsense. It was probably just another story you made up for attention," He rolled his eyes and began to make his way back home. "Emmanuel I'm being serious! It was looking at me. It chased me and tried to grab me," I told my story. "Grab you? In what type of way?" He questioned, growing concerned. "No! Not that way!" I assured him. "It looked at me like I was some sort of monster," I began to sink into a deep thought about the horror that I had just experienced. "A couple of its mates came around and helped it chase me around the room and-," I felt a burning sensation run down my cheek as my nose began to stuff up. "Anya no! You already know about the curses! Don't start crying!" He instructed. "I-I know. It's just-," I wiped the tears away before they could pierce my skin any more than they already had. He went inside and grabbed a cloth and poured some of the healing regimen that he made onto it and gently applied it to my cheek. "Mother and father had told us that they were only a myth. But now that they're gone..," I trailed off. "They are a myth Anya. Nothing more. We are done with this discussion." He dismissed me and went back into the hutch. I could do nothing but sit on the cold ground, helpless. None of them would ever believe me. Everyone knows that they are only myths. It had to have been a dream. Humans are not real. Right?***
My apologies for the short first chapter! There is more to come very soon!~Lille✨
