(QING)
"What do you mean a son?" I frowned at the council members sitting around the table in front of me. "Some woman approached members of this council saying I sired another son with her? Are you all kidding me?"
It's just the morning briefing yet people are quickly losing their minds as they convey to me about this new issue attached to my name and my reputation.
"No, Your Majesty," Head Counsel Falu answered with a somber look on his face. "It is quite a serious matter. And believe me when I said that the council is taking this seriously..."
I laughed humorlessly. "Meaning, you believe this woman?" The laughter died from my lips as I scowled at them. "Tell me that you didn't entertain giving credence to this woman's lunacy,"
"She showed proof of your relationship with her, Your Majesty," Right Counsel Guwen replied to me this time. He is quite a new member of the Royal Council. Having only started serving as a counsel for four years now.
"Can you give me her name?" I asked, or demanded, depending on who is sensitive to my tone.
"Miss Li Cuowu was her given name," Head Counsel Falu gauged my reaction to the name he uttered.
I flinched. Cuowu, I remember her. Vaguely. She was from my past before Dayu came back to my life. Heck, she was a past before I even began my relationship with Shunu. Cuowu is flitting fling that is not even worth mentioning.
I think our relationship only lasted a week or not even. And it was over twelve years ago.
"That's over a decade ago. Too long..."
"Her son is eleven years old," Head Counsel Falu said.
"And so what?" I boredly replied. "That doesn't mean that that boy is my son."
"But we can't be sure if he is not your issue either." Another council member said.
I laughed again, "We should thank modern technology then. A simple DNA test can provide us with the truth if she is lying or not. But until then, I don't see why this issue is related to my son's appointment as the next King in Waiting?" I waved my hand in the air as I told them about the simple solution to our problem.
I was raising Yong's appointment again as my heir and Crown Prince this morning. Seeing Dayu distraught about the unsettled future of our son is upsetting me too.
Dayu has been working hard to support me and raise our children. People, common people, love their Consort. Dayu is highly praised on his charity works and programs that people started volunteering to his different charity organizations to help his cause and advocacies.
Him being a commoner married to Royalty also has an appeal on the younger generations. Everyone can be romantic after all. And what could be more romantic than our love story, with our unusual courtship and engagement, to us building a solid team as a couple and now as parents to our children.
Our story is the stuff of dreams.
But I am aware that some people on this council are not happy with Dayu. My Consort avoids them. Having as little interaction with them as possible and that is giving these people an impression that their Consort is snobbing them.
Knowing Dayu, maybe that's really what he is doing. Snobbing them...
"Your Majesty," the Left Counsel Changshi woke me from my mussings. "In the light of another Prince of the Crown emerging, we also need to think more about this decision to appoint Prince Yonggan..."
