Apology

I watched from the upper balcony of the meeting chamber as Dayu sits on the head of the council table surrounded by the people he once wanted to avoid.

The Royal Council is not that fond of their Consort, maybe because of what Dayu said last night while we are eating dinner...

"I am reverse snobbing them," he pursed his lips as he mixed his salad. "Because they all came from various powerful families and organizations while I am a commoner, I am snobbing them."

"You shouldn't have done that. They are reasonable and good people Dayu," I told my husband.

"I know that now..." he said. "I guess I just got frustrated that they won't give the Crown Prince title to our son. I am the unreasonable one," he sighed.

Now he will try to make amends on his wrongdoings. But like Lao said, we are a young Monarch couple. We are bound to make mistakes.

Dayu's mistake was he judged these council members harshly because they won't appoint our son like he wants them to. Now he will try appealing with them.

I can't go down there and interfere. This will be the Consort's business alone. And Dayu had to do this on his own.

He stood up and bow down to the council. The council members scrambled to stood up and bow down to Dayu as an answer.

Dayu straightened and sat down again, "Please, sit with me," he said to the counsel members.

I smiled at Lao who is standing behind me to be hidden a bit. He smiled back.

We both think Dayu is on the right track so far...

He took several deep breath  to calm himself.

But he already did the hard part. Bowing down. Now all he need to do is say the spoken words.

"I deeply apologized for the way I have been acting since I became the King's Consort," he said as he look at every mem and women sitting around the counsel table.

"From the way I walked out like a spoiled brat when you didn't appoint my son Yong as the Crown Prince to the way I avoided coming into council meetings to observe how my husband do his business. I deeply apologize for those actions I did,"

Dayu straightened his shoulders, "A friend of mine said that I am being stubborn to the point that I am neglecting my duty as the King's Consort. I know that could be a cause for concern and in my defense I will say that I am still new to this King's Consort business. Being a Prince's Consort is an ocean apart from being the King's partner. I realized that now and once again I apologized for being slow in realizing that regard."

"I will once again pronounce my allegiance to my King. And I will pronounce my allegiance and respect for this council. All those words I said as I took my seat as your King's Consort."

Dayu stood up again. Everyone stood up with him. Dayu once again turn his head to look at everyone on that table. "I will be loyal to my King. I will be loyal to this country. I will respect this council. I will be loyal to my Crown Prince. As the King's Consort, I will give my utmost best to do my duties and to fulfill these promises,"
