Finn's POV:
I was out getting coffee at the Starbucks not too far from my house when my phone went off. I pulled it out and checked the caller ID.
'(Y/N)' it read.
I picked it up.
"Hey (Y/N), what's up?" I answered.
I heard her sniffle and choke back some tears.
"(Y/N)? What's wrong?" I asked, worry filling up my voice.
"He-he hurt me Finn! He broke me!" She said and started sobbing.
Hearing her cry made my heart drop to my stomach. Every guy she's ever dated always made her happy for a little while then broke her to pieces. I've known (Y/N) for the majority of my life and I fell in love with her in high school. But she got a boyfriend when I was about to ask her out and I was heartbroken. I pretended to be happy for her but really, deep down inside I envied that guy. Instead, I was her best friend and supported her and was there for her whenever she needed me.
My feelings haven't faded though. Over the years, they just seemed to get stronger each time I saw her or heard her voice. I tried numerous times to get over her. I dated other girls but none of them compared to (Y/N) and then I'd break up with them. That's when I knew that (Y/N) was the one I wanted to be with, no one else. I had to tell her...but I never could bring myself to do such thing.
Flashback
"Finn he cheated on me the whole time!" (Y/N) balled into the phone.
"(Y/N), listen to me. He's a jerk! You deserve someone so much better that will love you forever and wouldn't hurt you." I told her. This wasn't the first time someone hurt her. It's like a broken record and I felt so bad for her.
"I know Finn, but I loved him." She said, her voice cracking at the end.
"I know, I know. Just remember that I'm always here for you. He didn't deserve you and you will find that right person." I said.
'That person is me!' I wanted to shout, but I couldn't.
"Thanks Finn. Thanks for being such a great friend. I'll call you tomorrow." She said.
"Okay (Y/N). Good night love." I replied.
She said her simple 'Night' and hung up. I sighed and rolled over on my bed. Why couldn't she see that someone that loved her and would never hurt her was right in front of her? I wish she did. Someday she will...
End of flashback.
"Where are you? I'll come over there." I told her.
"I'm at my house." She said, a little calmer now.
"Be there in a few. Stay strong." I said and hung up.
I picked up my coffee and headed towards (Y/N)'s house. I had to tell her... Im so sick and tired of guys treating her like crap. I'm going to make things right.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I opened the door to (Y/N)'s house with my spare key. None of the lights were on, just the TV in the living room. I walked in to see (Y/N) with red puffy eyes, tear stained cheeks and wrapped up in a large blanket. She smiled when she saw me. I smiled back.
"Hey you." I said.
"Hi." She whispered.
I sat down next to her as she cuddled into my chest and lightly cried. I held her close and traced small patterns on her back.
"Why does it always happen to me? It's like a sign saying I'm not meant for anyone. I'm going to die alone with no one. I'll never know what real love feels like!" She cried into my chest.
Now Finn! Now!
"(Y/F/N) (Y/M/N) (Y/L/N)! Don't ever say that! You're a beautiful, friendly, funny girl and you WILL find the right one. Just know that there's a guy on Earth that watches you date other boys and is envious of every single one of them. He wishes that he could be the one to hold you when you're scared, kiss you whenever he wants, and be the one you say 'I love you' to. He watches terrible people break you and will do anything to put you back together. He loves you with all his heart and just wants you to be happy." I told her softly.
Her eyes met mine and she a tear slipped down her cheek.
"How long?" She asks barely audible.
"Ever since high school." I replied breaking eye contact with her.
I didn't want to see her reaction. She was silent and I figured she was trying to think of a way to tell me that she doesn't like me like that without hurting me.
"Look, it's okay. I understand that you don-" she cut me off by placing her lips on mine.
I was shocked for a second but quickly responded by kissing her back softly. She pulled away, both of us smiling.
"I'm so stupid...how could I've not seen it...let alone feel it? I've loved you just as long but I just never really knew until now." She said smiling.
"Well, (Y/N) would you make me the happiest man ever and be my girlfriend?" I asked.
She nodded and kissed me on the lips. This was the start of a beautiful relationship.
