Cora spent the whole day with Rory and his mother, as they helped her prepare for Hogwarts. She was taken to a wizard bank called " Gringotts". It was a large white building that loomed over the rest of the town both metaphorically and literally.
" Mrs Alrin," she asked Rory's mother, " have I even got any money? Both my parents are...um.."
"Muggles?" Mrs Alrin asked as Cora nodded in response.
" Well your grandfather was a wizard wasn't he? Surely he must have some money kept here, and you definitely have wizard ancestors.". They entered the bank and Cora got the shock of her life. She was used to seeing people in business suits, typing away on computers. But here, there were not people but ugly strange creatures.
" Goblins" Rory whispered in her ear. They walked through the hall until they reached a goblin seated behind a large desk. Mrs Alrin cleared her throat and the goblin immediately stopped his work. He peered down from the desk, his murky brown eyes landing on Cora.
His lips curled into what Cora assumed was a smile( though not a rather friendly one). She began looking around while Mrs Alrin talked to the Goblin whose name was apparently Mudgob. Before she knew it, they were in a mine cart and travelling through underground tunnels. The ride was bumpy and with everyone crammed into a cart, she felt claustrophobic. They soon arrived at a large vault and Mudgob hopped out of the cart, revealing a large key. He inserted it into the vault and the giant metallic door swung open. Inside, piles of gold and silver coins glistened. Both Cora's and Rory's mouth dropped.
" Bloody hell Cora! You're grandparents must have been loaded!"

Once Cora had got her money, they went shopping for her and Rory's school supplies. After purchasing uniforms, quills and textbooks( along with other necessities), Cora was ready to get her wand. Rory showed her his wand. It was made of Elm and had a Unicorn Hair core. Cora couldn't wait to discover what her wand would be made out of. They entered a shop called "Ollivanders" and were greeted by a short, shabby man.
" Hello folks! Dominick Ollivander at your service. How may I help you today?" He spoke cheerfully.
Rory gave her a nudge and Cora stepped forward. " Ah! Just a second!" said Dominick before trotting off to the back of the store. He shortly returned with a long green box.
" I am getting a strange feeling from you young lady, this wand is perfect. Now just hold and point..NO NOT THERE...ah yes!". Cora gave the wand a flick and a green mist began pooling around her. She felt a powerful sensation wash over her. Dominick was now beaming.
" Only one person is known to have that happen. The great Merlin himself."

The next day, Rory and Cora got ready to go to Hogwarts. They were at King's Cross and had all their things ready. Rory even had a pet owl named Kaelem. It was 10.45 meaning they had exactly 15 minutes before the train left.
"Rory you go first." Mrs Alrin told her son. Rory grabbed his trolley and ran heading straight for a wall ready to crash-
" Stop!" Cora was just about to shout when Rory disappeared. She was confused and astonished. Soon it was her turn to go and was told to run straight through and not worry about crashing. Her grip tightened around the trolley and she pushed with all her might. She was engulfed in darkness for a split second before emerging in front of a massive red train. A sign said Platform 9 3/4 and Hogwarts Express while students and parents roamed around hurriedly. Excitement swelled up in her and she went to go meet Rory. They got on the train as their things were taken away. Rory hugged his mother and she wished them both good luck.
On the train, Cora managed to find an empty compartment while Rory went to go meet his friends. The train begun to move and Cora couldn't be more exhilarated. She was leaving behind her muggle life and becoming a wizard! She couldn't wait to-
"Excuse me." a small voice spoke. Cora looked over at the door and saw a girl with long brown hair standing. " May I sit here? Everywhere else is full.". Cora nodded and the girl happily slithered in.
" I'm Danielle Axtoria Felitor! First year!" The girl introduced herself.
" Cora Mone Reefius. First year as well.".
Danielle giggled, " Sounds as if Aerana gave you that name. She loves making puns.".
" I'm sorry but who's-" Cora was cut of by the door sliding open and a girl with light brown hair stood there. She was already dress in her robes and had a pastry in her hand.
"I heard my name! Hello, i'm Aerana Séraphine. It's my first year at Hogwarts too! Mind if I...Slither in...". Cora introduced herself and Aerana sat down while Danielle shook her head disapprovingly.
" Which house d'ya think we'll get sorted into?"asked an enthusiastic Danielle.
"Houses?" Asked Cora, confused.
" Oh you must be a Muggleborn! Well there are four houses named after the four founders of the school," Aerana began explaining, " Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. I personally want to get Ravenclaw as my family comes from a long line of Ravenclaws! Though I suppose Gryffindor wouldn't be too bad."
"I'll most probably get into Hufflepuff...Oh Aerana stop laughing you already knew it!" exclaimed Danielle, " As long as I don't get into Slytherin of course.".
Cora was stumped, " What's wrong with Slytherin? I'm sure it can't be that bad.". Aerana and Danielle exchanged looks. They explained how there was once a dark wizard called Voldemort and he had followers and they were all from Slytherin. They also told her of the battle of Hogwarts and the tales of Harry Potter( who was now long gone) and his friends.
" But don't you worry Cora, Muggleborns can't be put into Slytherin. Only Pures and Halfs can. Well the both of you better get dressed, we should be arriving soon.
Now, Cora was even more anxious then ever. She certainly didn't want to be put into Slytherin.
