I held the metal sword tightly to me. So tight I was white knuckled. I look over to King Astrin. Shaking ,he looked back at me. Reluctantly, he nodded and looked away, as I did the same.  My cool demeanor was slowly fading. How could it come to this? Why was I chosen? These question ran through my head as I sat there, waiting for it to begin. I was nervous. A few seconds from now war will break out.

I could tell from the vibes I was getting ,that everyone was nervous too. War did that to people. Another thing it did was destroy beautiful lands and lives. The emotional damage was worse. The loss of a loved one, the shock from seeing a friend die, and even the fear of seeing a Knight. Why was it that war did all this? And why was it the only common answer? Another set of questions running through my mind.

I lifted the the sword in front of my face to study the details. This sword started everything. Along with my help ,of course. It's runes glowed when the sun hit it. It's these runes that decide the fate of this world. These runes have the capability to rebuild, purify, and destroy this world. If this sword was to fall into the wrong hands ,we'd all be doomed. Which once again begs the question. Why me?

It was time. Lifting it up, I took ahold of my steed. I again looked over to Astrin. His sword too, was up. I gave him the signal to start.

"Today is the start of a legendary war. We must do everything it takes to protect this Kingdom and the people inside it. Brother's and sister's of war. Do not stop. Keep fighting 'till you're heart gives out. Fight until victory is OURS!!"

The roar of cheers rocked me like an earthquake. The vibes had changed and hopefully ,so did the winds..and for the better. The rush I got from the cheers was tremendous. I lifted my sword even higher and began to cheer with them. Suddenly ,I felt a hand on my shoulder. Then another hand reached for my helmet and took it off. I looked over to see Astrin with his helmet off too. His black hair was messy and his eyes filled with worry. His face told it all. His hand that was on my shoulder moved up to my cheek ,as did the other.

He leaned in and put his forehead on mine and stared into my eyes. His dark, green eyes looked into mine and I knew he could tell how I was feeling. He leaned in even closer ,and his lips softly met mine. At first it was just a peck ,but soon it became harder. It felt like forever and I wanted it to. But unfortunately there were more important things at the moment. He pulled away and set his forehead back on mine.

"Fight 'till our souls give out, Eve?"

His voice was soft and it usually soathed me. But it didn't this time. I took a deep breathe and nodded.

"Not even then."

He closed his eyes ,and from the looks of it ,he was thinking. He opened them back up and sighed.

"I won't let a single thing hurt you....or take you."

"You mean them taking the sword?"

I said with a small smile.

"No. If they took you ,I would stop at nothing to get you back."

His face was serious. Choosing one life or many is something I was shocked to hear from a king.

"One life isn't worth thousands, Astrin. Besides, I will never let them catch me. They'd have to rip off every one of my limbs"

He nodded and we parted. I put my helmet back on and took ahold of my steed. The horn of battle was blown and it echoed through the valley. Another roar of cheers came and the clanking of metal. The war had started. Galloping through the open plain ,I saw the Climent army coming over the horizon. I looked above me to see arrows coming down like rain. The whistling wind through my helmet. All these things were real ,when I only heard them in storys. All so now real. One by one I saw enemy soldiers fall with every hit.

"For Adurias!!"

Astrin screamed. I looked over to him one last time before the battle started ,to find him focused on the army in front of us. My focus turned back to them as well and they were only a few feet from me. "I will never fall" I thought to myself. It was like slow motion right before we hit them. Every heartbeat a minute. The impact was rough...for I blacked out.
