We Knew All The While (@DavidYager)

I remember when I used to let her fill my mind
Take over and leave me weak

I recall her looks and stance
Her everlasting glance

I remember the nights in bed when I'd hold air and think of her
Cuddle a pillow and cry in pain

I recall the days where we shared a smile
Yeah, we knew all the while

Still I am her good friend
I'll be there till the very end

She tells me all about her boyfriend
She'll say "We're having struggles"

And I'd say "It'll all work out you know you love him"
She'd send me a smile
Then she'd leave me for awhile

That was just our style

We'd help each other at our worsts
In spirit we were each others firsts

She might say she isn't pure
I'd say "I don't care" she'd reply "Are you sure?"

And of course I was

Because I remember when I used to let her fill my mind

I recall her looks and stance
Her everlasting glance

I remember the nights in bed when I'd hold air and think of her
Cuddle a pillow and cry in pain

I recall the days where we shared a smile
Yeah, we knew all the while

I remember a regular day when she gave her red delicious apple away
She was hungry but she was so sweet

She couldn't say no instead she said "I didn't want it I'm so full"
So they took it but I knew better

I paid to get it back but any price was free
Once I gave it back to her and she gave that sweet look back to me

I recall late nights and calming conversations
I recall Christmas gifts we never gave but the memories we always saved
I recall the bad days and the good
I remember all the "I could" and "We should"

Trust me I remember all the real love
Even though it was friendly and emotional it was never the way I wanted it to seem

Yeah, she was never mine
But we were lovers we came to find

Of course we were

Because I remember when I use to let her fill my mind
