"I don't want to go" I replied. "Mrs. Irvin looked at me. "You're going to the will reading, your father left you something." I wiped my tears away. "How do you know?" "When I gave birth to you, we discussed it." "But he- wait, when you what?" I asked. "Aaliyah, I'm your mom.." I got up, and left the room feeling sick to my stomach. She couldn't be! Adam stood outside the door waiting for me,  but I walked past him.

"Aaliyah! Wait!" Mrs. Irvin yelled. I sat down on the back porch. Squeaks came from the back door as someone came out. "Aaliyah" Adam started. "I don't want to talk about it.." The back door opened again as Adam came and sat next to me. "Aaliyah, please listen" Mrs. Irvin begged. "Why didn't you want me?" She came and sat next to me, rubbing my arm. "I couldn't take care of you...I only chose what was the best for you.." I hugged her, salty tears running down my face. "I want to be here for you" she added.

I stood up, a little light-headed. Adam held me up.

"I am married to Lorraine Williams hereafter referred to as my spouse. I have the following children: Jerod Christian Williams, born November 23, 1990, Michael Charles Williams born January 18, 1986, and Aaliyah Rae Williams born August 3, 1993." He adjusted his glasses and kept reading.

"I declare that this is my last will and testament, and that I hereby revoke, annul and cancel all wills and codicils previously made by me, either jointly or severally." Adam rubbed my hand. "I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint, Esther Irvin as Executor." He turned the page. "To my lovely wife, Lorraine, I leave my home in Atlanta. To my older son, Jerod, I leave my vacation house in Miami. To my other son, Michael I leave my vintage car collection. And to my daughter, Aaliyah I leave my life savings. A total of $1,000,000." I gasped. "Read that again" my 'mom' said. "A total of $1,000,000." "You can't be serious" she argued getting up. "That's what it says, ma'am" the lawyer replied. I looked at Adam, he couldn't believe it as well. The lawyer finished the reading, and packed up his stuff. I walked out of the house, meeting Star in the driveway. "Y'all ready?" "Yes-" "Aaliyah!" a voice called.

I turned around, my 'mom' making my way towards me. "Yes?"

Adam moved away from me so we could talk alone...
