Ryu Sujeong x Kim Taehyung #2
It was on the evening in winter season. The snow fell from the sky swiftly yet quietly, made the town filled up with white colour. Sujeong fixed her red scarf again and again. Her neck was completely covered by the scarf, but somehow the winter breeze still could pierce her bones. As she walked down the street, she hugged herself and hummed to the song that she listened through her earphone. She still could not believe she was being clumsy and forgot to bring umbrella. The weather did not have mercy on her, so she decided to stop at a coffee shop nearby. A cup of hot coffee would be nice, she thought.
The bell ring welcomed her as she opened the door. The barista behind the counter also said something as a welcoming greet, but Sujeong could not hear a thing since she still had earphone on her ears. The barista behind the counter was busy making coffee so when Sujeong was right in front of the counter, she only saw his back.
"One americano, please." Sujeong said, did not bother to wait the barista asked her order. She took off her right earphone to hear clearer.
"You really love coffee now." The barista said and turned around to face Sujeong.
Sujeong eyes got widened a little bit, "Taehyung oppa..." she whispered but Taehyung still could hear her.
Taehyung smiled widely, "Long time no see, Sujeong-ah."
Sujeong nodded and smiled. She did not say anything because her mind was suddenly in chaos. A lot of memories suddenly played in her mind, like a movie that was being fast-rewind. Sujeong was flustered, she could not press the pause button.
"One americano, right? Is there anything else?" Taehyung asked and wrote something in Sujeong's cup.
"Nope." Sujeong said. She was glad her voice came out naturally.
"It will be 3500 won. Please wait a little bit." Taehyung said and gave her his rectangle smile.
"Ah-okay. Thank you." Sujeong answered.
After she paid the coffee, she walked to the corner and wait. She leaned back on the wall and hugged herself, still. She thought came inside to a coffee shop would warm her. Somehow, it did not. The room was still too cold for her.
It has been five months since the feeling gone. It has been five months since she was the first one who said goodbye. Sujeong carefully glanced at Taehyung who was chatting and giggling with his co-workers while making her coffee.
Right. He was doing okay. He moved on.
But why something stung Sujeong's heart? Was it true that regret always comes at last?
"Sujeong-ssi..." Taehyung called her name, made her back to the real world. "Your coffee is here." He said, with a smile on his face.
Sujeong took the coffee. She was about to say thank you when a customer came in and took Taehyung's attention.
"Welcome, can I help you?" Taehyung said to a middle-aged man with a suit.
"Thank you, oppa.." Sujeong whispered, this time Taehyung clearly could not hear it.
Sujeong walked out from the coffee shop, and the coldness welcomed her right away. She took a sip of her coffee. It was cold and bitter. No matter how hot the coffee was, it was still cold for Sujeong. It was useless.
After a minute, Sujeong just realized that Taehyung's messy handwriting was written on her cup.
Sujeong-ah, thank you for the bitter sweet memories that you gave to me. I hope you have a good life and please stay healthy! Tae-tae :)
Bittersweet memories? What bittersweet memories? All that Sujeong gave to him was bitter memories. She hurt him. And now she realized she just hurt herself. It was true, that regret always comes at last.
