My whole entire life had been a lie, from start to now. My mom lied to me and that's why I got sent here, to my Aunt's lake house. I don't think I could ever forgive my mom for what she did to me. My Aunt Natalie was nice enough, considering I met her once when I was three months old. The next time I saw her I was here with most of my belongings, living with her. She knew I was coming and she knew what happened to mom. However, she didn't know what lies my mom had fed me, leaving me to my breaking point. I
"I'm going to swim," I yelled to my Aunt. I put all my boxes in there and I needed to calm my nerves down. I dove into the infinity pool head first as the water hit my skin, I felt at peace with myself. The house was a beautiful two story house with a balcony overlooking the lake from my bedroom. There were no fences I came to learn, there weren't really any neighbors to see anyways. So in the back was a porch and the pool, giving a great view of the lake.
The fact of the matter was that this gorgeous house belonged to a stranger, a stranger that hopefully I would only need to live with for three months. My Aunt was a stranger and the news of my mothers death came as a shock to her, me living with her was much more of a shock. She sounded like she barely knew I existed.
I ponder my mind and kick off the walls. My dad left me and my mom, he's out there somewhere and I hope he got the message about my mom. They cops called a hopefully working number and left a voicemail. After three days went by, they decided that it would be best if I lived with my aunt. He never called back, he never asked about me, his own child. His blood. Either way, I would be living with a stranger. Aunt Natalie seems to know enough about me to let me do as I please for now.
I came up for air and I was met with a pair of emerald green eyes staring at me. "Boo," the boy said as I screeched out of surprise. A grin grows upon this strangers face, I wanted nothing more than to slap the trespasser. I wonder if Aunt Natalie heard my shriek and was coming out here. I move away from the guy and wipe my eyes to make sure he's actually here. "My name is Xavier." He puts a hand out to shake and I just glare. Who is he and what is he doing on the porch?
"Um hi, who are you," I said in a rude tone. It was demanding, less of a question more of a demand for him. His eyebrows come up in confusion as I slowly back away to the other side of the pool.
"I'm Xavier Johnson. We're neighbors I guess. For the summer. Sorry I saw someone up here and I didn't know if someone was trespassing on Ms. Natalie's property." I fought the urge to roll my eyes at this dude.
"In case you haven't heard, you're the one trespassing not me buddy." I point at him and emphasize the word you're. His eyes glint in amusement before a confusing look sets upon his face.
"Well then who are you?" He's my new neighbor, should I trust him? Does Aunt Natalie trust this dude? She has to, enough for him to be her security system. I giggled at my joke and quickly become serious.
"I'm her niece. I'm here for I don't know how long. What are you, her security system?" A chuckle escaped his lips, making me smile before I quickly wiped it off my face and replaced it with a scowl.
"I guess you could call me that. Can I get a name or are you gonna leave me in the dark?" I slowly laid on my back, floating and talking to a stranger.
"Josephine but friends call me Josie." He grabbed the towel that was laying on one of the chairs and swiftly passed it to me.
"Well Josie, the sun is setting and it's going to get dark soon. Wouldn't want you to be out here alone. There's wolves in the woods." I dry myself off and wrap the towel around my body as he keeps eye contact with me the whole time.
"I said my friends can call me Josie, not stalking strangers." I shiver as a gust of wind hits me.
"I wasn't stalking and I'm not a stranger now, you know my name." The sky was now a fiery orange, sending light through his blonde locks.
