Cold. Pale. Lifeless. Those were the only words I could think of to describe the body lying in front of me. My best friend, Lucy, was standing next to me, her light brown hair pulled back into a bun. She was wearing ripped jeans and a crop top. She was staring at the ground. I kept thinking how lucky I was to have her here at this time. It wasn't so bad. It was just another bird that my cat had dragged in. But it meant something. A life had been taken. And the body of the poor soul was lying in front of me.

My mom came into the living room with a shovel. Scooped up the bird and left. Lucy and I walked up to my room and plopping onto my bed we both pulled out our phones. I started playing flappy bird and Lucy started snapchatting June. After taking a goofy picture of the two of us she typed "Me and Val are going crazy!" Then sent it.

My name is Valentine but I haven't been called that forever. Now I go by Val. I still write "Valentine Crimson". I hate my last name. Lucy has "Cherry" as her last name. She was sitting on my bed laughing and I thought about how Lucy and June had been my friends since third grade. We were like the three musketeers...neh the three stooges. We got into trouble a lot. Mainly for talking in class. Lucy was singing "Let it go" trying to hit that impossible note. I just laughed because even though she was upset she couldn't hit it I knew she was an amazing singer.

A knock came at my door and Lucy and I both got that surprised dog face. You know that one with the ears raised. I slowly walked over to the door and smiled like a three year old. It was June. I always got so happy when the three of us got together. It felt illegal to let us all be together but at the same time it felt so right. June walked into my room and immediately went for my secret stash of food. She always helped herself to my food. June especially loved smarties. Lucy was the opposite. She went straight for the soda. She'd drink everything in my house if I let her. So June grabbed a Doritos bag and sat next to Lucy.

We laughed and watched Psych for a while then dinner came. We tried walking downstairs but instead I tripped over June and tripped Lucy. We laughed like we were high. I'm pretty sure the only reason God didn't make us sisters is because no mother could handle us. We ate and then they both helped themselves to a pair of my Pjs. They stayed over a lot.

I climbed into bed and then my heavy body became weightless as I flew up. June and Lucy jumped on the bed and then scrambled to catch me as I came flying back towards them. We stayed up until like one 'o clock in the morning then we all fell asleep.

The next morning I woke up to see my two friends sound asleep. So I was very polite not to wake them. I got up, went to the bathroom and when I got back I yelled "OMG! DISNEY MARATHON!" That woke them up. We got ready for our last day of freedom before Monday.
