I had just fallen victim of Lola Barnes, aka my arch nemesis and the school's most "popular" bitch. It was just like any other school day where Lola would find a way to torture me. I'm not really impressed though, it was a basic bitch move, purposefully running into me so that I would drop all my shit and have the whole school laugh at me. Did I mention that I literally have no friends? That's because Lola hates me and everyone sides with her so I have no one to defend or help me. I have no idea what I did to make her hate me, but I kept thinking to myself, why me? Out of everyone Lola could choose to constantly bully, why the fuck did it have to be me? I guess maybe I'm just an easy target.
I am and always will be an absolute loner.
Oh, how I hate everyone.
Once the bell rang signaling the end of school, Lola waved goodbye with that sickly smile of hers and I was left alone once again with my school shit still scattered everywhere.
But that was when I heard it. Foot steps echoing down the empty hallway. The sound continued to echo on for a while, but when the echoing had stopped, that was when a hand reached down towards me. And it was the hand of someone I did not recognize. I had never seen this boy, but I was hesitant to take his hand. This had happened to me many times before, someone would pretend to offer me help and once I had grabbed their hand, they would let go.
It really hurt my butt to be honest. But there shall be no more butt pain for me. I will not allow it.
"No! My booty can not take any more suffering!" I screamed.
There was complete silence for a short period of time and I looked up at the mysterious boy to see that he looked completely puzzled.
Huh. Maybe he was just trying to help after all.
Rip life.
I decided to break the silence by introducing myself because why not.
"Emily Clarke. Nice to meet you." I said, looking up at him.
"Logan Carter." He responded, looking down at me.
"So, Logan, you new here?" I questioned.
"Why are you on the floor?" He asked, not answering my question.
"I'm not sure, It's quite comfortable down here though, and it takes way too much work to stand up, would you like to sit with me?" I asked.
"I just met you and you may be the laziest person I've ever seen." He said.
"You call it lazy, I call it selective participation." I stated with a shrug.
Since it didn't look like he was joining me down here anytime soon, I decided to grab my shit and get up, all by myself I might add. Once I stood up, I came face to face with Logan, or well face to neck, considering the fact that he was about a head taller than me. I noticed how green his eyes were, I was a bit mesmerized by how dark they were and I couldn't help but stare. Wow, they were very pretty. I've always wanted dark green eyes but I'm stuck with poopy brown eyes.
"By the way, to answer your question, yes, I am new here, moved all the way from New York." Logan said.
"New York to California. That's a pretty big change." I responded.
"Sure, I guess, so how did you end up on the floor?" Logan asked.
"Oh, I uh, tripped. Clumsy me!" I lied, not wanting his pity.
"Are you sure that's why?" He questioned, seeming not to believe my lie.
You see, I've never really been that great at lying, so now it's time to run away.
"Gotta blast! Bye bye!" I exclaimed, as I turned and sprinted away.
I don't know if that was such a good idea, but I ran and I ran, all the way home. Well, more like walked since I'm "lazy". I don't live that far from the high school, it's probably a good 20 minute walk but I have to walk everyday because my mom works and she's barely home.
Once I made it home, I listened to music in my room for the rest of the day. That's one of the perks of having zero friends, you can just chill in your room after school and do whatever the hell you want. For me, music is like an escape from reality, I love it and it's something I couldn't live without.
I took the time to write in my diary after I had finished getting ready for bed. I write it in everyday, it honestly just helps me relieve stress when I write all my thoughts and feelings down. I get a new diary every year, this tradition started when my mom gave me my first diary for my 14th birthday. It is really personal though, and I would never allow anyone to read it. After I wrote about the events that occurred today, I decided it was time to go to bed.
Woohoo.
But that night, my mind kept wandering back to one single word and one single color.
Green.
