What Lies Within A Kingdom

Chapter Nine

The next morning the new married couple was now on their way back to Zathana. Kaira was riding on a white horse while Nyx on a black one, they were leading a group of their own. May-may was with them and so was Haru. Nyraxa decided to stay at home and wait for their return.

They went to Zathana to learn of how the kingdom looked like. "Kaira, are you sure you want to go threw with this?" May-may asked her sister in law.

"Yes, we came so far already."

Just then in Shadow Claw the village where her mother was born in. She saw a little girl the girls clothes were teared, she had no shoes and her hair was messed up. A men dressed in red and black robes was patrolling the streets of the village.

"I'm guessing that's my uncles soldiers." Kaira said to Nyx.

"Yes, I believe so. So now we know what they wear."

"And the village is loosing their children. But I wonder why?"

"Come, we can't stay here longer, we have to return back." Haru said to them

"My father is right, we can't take chances." Nyx said to Kaira.

They then got on their horses as Kaira was about to get on her horse, she heard the girl bagging for something. When she turned around she saw the guards was pulling her on her hair, dragging her out of the village in the path to the kingdom. Something came over her and she got onto her horse and charged for the village.

"Let her go!"she said as she made her horse lift his two front legs at the soldiers. They had a fright and did as she said. Kaira then told the girl to get up, she grabbed the girl by her hands and left the village. And in the distance she saw Nyx and May-may had wait for her and they went to catch up with the others.

"What were you thinking?" Nyx said as they got home with a tone of anger and worry.

"She's okay isn't that good enough brother?" May-may asked him.

"And what if something happened?"

"Well hello there, come let me take you to a room." Nyraxa said knowing her son and not wanting the child to see this. May-may also went and followed her mother, while Haru had gone to the training grounds.

"She was in trouble, what do you expect me to do?"

"Not play a hero, Kaira the mission was to observe the place not reveal ourselves."

"Yeah, well. I wasn't just going to leave and pretend there was no trouble. I wouldn't live with myself."

"And I wouldn't have lived with myself if something happened to you. Your the person they want, you're the future queen you should think before you act. Haven't I thought you anything?"

"I know my place. I know that I'm the future queen and that is why I reacted."

"We both know that is a lie. You reacted because you went and followed your heart. Kaira sometimes you going to have to ignore your heart and follow your head."

"Now you sound like your father."

"And that's a good thing since I am the future leader of this clan with you as my wife and a king soon. Stop thinking about your kingdom and yourself for once."

"You know I can't do that..."

"Well, try.!"he said and stormed out of the house. Kaira stood there knowing that she was wrong and felt bad. "Don't worry as a mother I would have done the same." Nyraxa said walking towards Kaira.
