Cole POV:

my eyes jerked open to a noise so loud I thought my ears would bleed. I felt something warm beside me and looked down too see that Terra was wrapped around my chest, sleeping like a baby.

everything around us was shaking like an earthquake, was it an earthquake?

How the hell is she sleeping through all of this?

I took a moment to remember how cute she looked right now and started shaking her to wake her up.

"Terra! Terra! Come on!"

She groggily opened her eyes and jolted up right when she realized what was happening.

"We got to get out of here!" Cole yelled over the noise.

"Really? Cause I thought we should stay a little longer and find out what happens next!" she exclaimed with a fake smile.

"Now is really not the time for sarcasm!" I yelled back.

without another word the both bolted towards Bae's cabin, where he was hiding under the bed with a slightly wet toga.

"Terra! What's happening?!" Bae screamed as a chunk of the ceiling fell an inch from where he layed.

"We've got to go now!" I said as I grabbed his hand and dragged Bae from under the bed.

As we ran towards our horses, Bae made a dead stop with eyes as big as a discus. "I forgot my soldier!"

Terra ran after Bae to stop him from reaching the crumbling cabins.

"It's too late! We have to go before it's too late!" Terra screamed as she threw Bae over her shoulder and ran back to the horses.

Bae pounded on her back with his face streaming in tears as she ran.

after a few minutes of drama and struggling, we all got onto our steeds with most of our belongings and galloped as fast as any horse has ever gone before.

I turned my shoulder to get a glance at Terra, who seemed to be enjoying the rush.

On and on we went, until we reached a place so far we could barely here the noise, which had gotten louder and angrier. We didn't even know what it was, but for all we knew it was danger.

Terra POV:

I have to admit, even though we were running for our lives, I was having a blast.

I've never had my adrenaline pump so much! oh and how I loves the blood roaring through my ears! the rush made me feel so alive, more alive than I've ever felt.

when we finally reached a small plain for grass that came up to our hips, we got off and got the chance to catch our breath.

we looked back to see giant clouds of grey come from Mt.Vasuvious, the sky turned a murky black and the dull feeling of sadness and despair hung in the air.

"Well, if I'm correct, the rumbling we heard back at the cabins was not just an earthquake, but also, a volcano eruption" Cole said as-a-matter-of-factly.

I never found his theories very interesting (but they were always right let me mind you), so I zoned off into space, which had become a habit. I snapped back to reality once I processed what he said.

an eruption?

"How do you know?" Bae asked, still sniffing from earlier's tantrum.

"just using my super sciency-wiency super power" he joked.

I had something to say but I was being one hundred percent serious this time. "well if your right, what are we going to do? save people? find a new home? warn the country?"

Cole took a moment to think and scratched his chin.

"well...I think by the time we get back to Pompeii the town will flood with lava and ashes, and the mountain's not even that big so it's not worth warning other towns."

I started laughing, but it was only me laughing.

"Oh crap, are you serious? we can't let those people die" I yelled throwing my hands on the air.

"well I don't know what we can do"

I dusted off my dress and walked over to my bag to pack.

"Woah, woah ,woah, what are you doing?" I ran after me, using his body to block me way.

"I'm going to round up as many people as I can and save them" I said.

now it was his turn to laugh, expect I was being very serious this time.

"oh come on, you can't save the whole population! that's impossible! The scientific...." and then I stopped listening there because there was no way in heck he was going to use science against me.

"Look Cole, I'm going and you can't stop me." I shoves him out of the way to get to Xanthos.

"Oh yes I can!" he hoisted me up over his shoulder and started walking in the opposite direction.

I pounded my fists against his back and yelled "PUT ME DOWN! PUT ME DOWN!"

Then there was a noise. A noise so loud, so scary, it seemed that the forest itself held it's breath.

We all slowly looked around too see that the volcano had erupted, lava was spewing from the top and racing down towards the town faster than the speed of wind.

The sky turned a dull black, ash fell from the sky and covered the buildings in a thick coat of gray. Screams were coming from every direction, time seemed to freeze.

Cole was right, it was too late. I wouldn't have made it.

Then Cole ran into a sprint (while I was still on his shoulder) towards the horses and our stuff, because the ash was coming down on us hard.
