Looking out at the settlement on the far side of the kingdom of Estelle, you would see nothing out of the ordinary. But little did anyone know that out of this settlement, many things would change that would affect this entire kingdom eventually impact everyone including those, who did not want to be affected
The Beginning
Down in the settlement of Bull Creek, everything was proceeding as usual. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary; that is until you entered the gates of the Earls' home and saw the panic that had ensued.
Two girls, one around the age of twelve and the other 16, at the edge of womanhood were sitting atop an orchard tree. One of them had a basket on her lap and the other one was standing, feet braced apart on the branch and her lips moving.
This, is their story
"Rose, we had better get down and get back to the house" I said in a cool, even voice "You might fall and that would be very bad"
"Don't be such a worry wart Krystal" Rose replied with her charming laugh "We've been here all day and nothing bad has happened right?
"Yes, but- ." I started but was cut off by another laugh
"But nothing. Now listen to me or I'll have you whipped" she said spreading her skirts more elegantly around her and rearranging her basket on her lap
"Yes my lady, as you wis-" I started to say but was interrupted by a shout near the base of the tree
"Krystal?! I know that you're up there! Where is Rose?!?" the voice, no house keeper Agatha shouted
"Yes I'm here house keeper" Rose shouted quickly, to cover me up. I doubted it though. It was more like she was gathering more material to hold against me when I didn't do what she wanted
"My lady, what are you doing up there?" House keeper asked in shock
"I was carding wool and was getting hot so I asked Krystal to take me somewhere cool. I didn't want to but she made me climb up here and I've been too afraid to come down" Rose replied in a voice that quivered.
"Oh my lady" said house keeper in a voice that was filled with sympathy "have no fear I'm here for you"
"Oh thank you Agatha" Rose said sweetly "I'm glad you're here. I'll be climbing down now"
"No my lady wait until someone comes to help you down" house keeper started but it was too late. Rose was already attempting to slide down. She would have made it too, except that her dress got caught on a knot in the tree so she started to fall head first.
But before she had started moving, I was already on my way down the tree so it was an easy matter to hold onto a branch with one hand and grab her dress with the other.
"My lady, are you ok?" asked the house keeper frantically "Krystal let her down gently you hear? Don't let her fall down"
"Hmph" I said "If I was going to let her fall I wouldn't have grabbed her now would I?"
