I was quietly sitting in my beloved teashop that day. It was raining heavily on street full of busy stressed people who were walking to their often boring works. It was cloudy and cold outside. Such weather made some people happy and others exhausted and sad. Small drops of water were falling on a lonely tree in front of the small lighted window of the teashop. I was alone sitting there and watching that wonderful world outside.
Wrapped in a warm cozy blanket I was trying to draw chaotic morning outside, but I couldn't focus on anything. I sipped a little bit of my black tea in lovely blue cup and then I saw a group of four people coming inside. They looked so cheerful, I wanted to be one of them for a while.
A young man with dark curly hair and brown eyes was telling them some jokes and everybody was laughing...Everybody but one girl. That girl seemed to be lost in her own world, in her own thoughts. She sat down and opened old book in leather cover and started to read.
"Liz? Why are you so quiet?" other girl asked her. "Liz?"
,,Oh, sorry," she replied and continued reading.
"We were talking about you," the girl told her. "We are worrying about you. You've said hardly anything for days. You are just reading."
"Oh, Rose," she replied again. ,,You shouldn’t worry too much. Just because I’m lost in a book it doesn’t mean that you are loosing me.” Liz smiled at her friends and as her wavy blonde hair fell in her face, she just tucked them behind ears and book caught her eyes once again.
I opened new page in my sketchbook and gripped my charcoal pencil lightly. Examining her face and look I soon found out how elegant she looked. She was wearing tight black jeans with casual shirt and leather jacket and grey comfy scarf was wrapped around her lean neck. That combination made her look like normal intelligent student, except she wasn’t just ordinary student. There was something special about her but I couldn’t find out what it was.
Because she was still reading, stopping only to take a sip of her tea, I could safely watch her from the armchair in the corner where I was sitting. My pencil was leaving soft lines on the paper that soon began to look a bit like face and body, face beautifully roundish and relaxed as if nothing else but that book mattered in that exact moment.
Her clothes were hiding chubby but petite woman figure and her hands were caressing cover of the book she was reading. Green shining eyes were hiding a great mystery but I still couldn’t tell what it was. Something very strange was lingering just there.
As I was watching her, still amazed by how simple and unique she looked, her friends suddenly stood up. She looked around and confused look written all over her face clearly said that she wasn't aware of anything that was happening around her for last hour. Out of nowhere, as if on sense, she found me with her stunning eyes and I would have sworn that in that moment she took all power over me.
While she was hypnotizing me with her eyes, I heard that her annoying friend interrupted her again and she looked up to her. I stared at her until the very moment when she left teashop.
On the next day I woke up with sight of her in my mind, I must have been dreaming about her. Imagining her and me walking together in rain - that was all inspiration that I needed to spend another afternoon in that teashop, hoping to see her again - even if just for moment.
I looked at sketchbook laying on my night table and analyzed rough sketch of her once again. Remembering all features of her face I couldn't help but smile.
Few hours later I was ready to go there again. I took my favorite pencils and sketchbook, hoping that she would come again. It was sunny outside, making me moody and tired. I played my favorite songs at the highest volume on my headphones, loading me with great energy and, to many, unknown endless happiness.
Sadly, I didn't see Liz that day nor following five days. Every day I was curled up there by a cup of tea, sketchbook on my knees, looking around me to capture atmosphere on paper and to see her coming.
On the seventh day it was raining as before. The only light that could cheer me up was nowhere to be seen and I was about to leave. I had stood up and I while I was paying I put my sketchbook on the counter.
When I turned around I saw her walking in there, like a shining star. She came to me so close, breaking my comfort zone and looking straight into my soul through my eyes. In her left eye there was literally brown star around pupil - the mystery I couldn't solve before. She was magical and as we stood here, just for a moment, universe seemed to be just right.
Then she had looked behind me, noticed my sketches and looked back at me. Coming even closer she pressed me against counter and whispered into my ear ,,You need more shadows.”
