After our more than uncomfortable interaction, I quickly gathered my books, and was the first person out of the door when the bell rang. I could hear Mr. Ferrand, my chemistry teacher ask me a question about my summer, but I had slipped out the door with my earbuds in too quickly to respond.

I got to my locker to put away my 20 pound chemistry book, and what do you know, there he was. He was standing about 5 lockers down ruffling through what looked like an already trashed locker.

Then, it happened again, we locked eyes. This time it was longer, but less uncomfortable for some reason. I gave him the most awkward closed mouth smile I could make, and he gave me a devilish smirk back.

I could already tell this boy was going to be trouble for me, we had an unspoken connection that made absolutely no sense to me, seeming as we barely got 2 words in this afternoon.

\\Cole's Point Of View//

It was my first day at West Cedar High School and I already know there's no way I'll fit in here, hell, I'm a senior taking junior classes of course I won't fit in. The people here didn't seem too friendly or accepting to new kids, although it may have to do with the fact I don't look at all like the kids who go here. The kids at West Cedar High School were athletic and pretentious, just like every other high school I've attended, and I've attended quite the number of schools. Not even to mention the fact that the kids here were attractive, like very attractive. The girls that go here aren't exactly my type though. I've been here for not even a full day and I've already received my fair share of glares from the jocks.  How lovely.

I walked to my 3rd period class with my head down, staring at me feet as I walked. That's when I saw her, and I knew in that moment that everything was about to change.

She was sitting alone in the back corner of the room, with her eyes glued to her phone with her earbuds in, I wonder what she was listening to. Her face was so radiant and her cheeks had a gorgeous pink flush to them. Her hair was the type of color that you couldn't tell if it was brown or blonde. She seemed interesting.
She seems like a girl I would get along with well, the quiet type. She was my type.

I had nothing to lose, so I approached her and asked to sit next to her because she was distanced from all the other seats in the class, I played it off like a cool guy but I was so nervous to ask her if I could sit by her.

As she switched the song on her playlist I scanned her phone screen to see if we had a similar music taste, she had all my favorite bands on her playlist. She played "knee socks" by Arctic Monkeys, I could just barely hear it coming from her earbuds. That's when she glanced up at me. I only made eye contact with her for a second, but her eyes were the most gorgeous things I had ever seen. They were perfectly round, and a deep blue/gray color. I hadn't gotten a full look at her features until then, but her lips were full and a natural deep pink, she had rather thick brows, but they weren't filled in, in fact I don't think she was wearing much makeup. I liked her look, it was different from all the other girls in the school. I also appreciated that we were both wearing matching all-black outfits, we seem like we would mesh.

I finally built up the nerve to say something to her, probably just a quick "hello", but I was disappointed when she hurried out of the room before I could even open my mouth.

I went to my locker to put away my Chemistry book and head to my next class, it was my lucky day, we had lockers in the same hall. I wanted to know her name. As I put my book in my locker I glanced over at her again and saw her looking directly at me. I smirked at her and she gave me the cutest, most awkward smile in the world. God, she's adorable.

He was so gorgeous, and I wanted to talk to him but he was way too cool for me. I glanced over at him praying he wasn't looking at me anymore, and to my surprise he was headed in my direction. I didn't know what to do so I just stared at the flood awkwardly. I saw him stop right in front of me, at a comfortable distance.

"Hi, I'm Cole. I'm new here, and was hoping to meet a new person." He said quietly, under his breath.
"I'm Gracie. Where'd you come from- I mean- move from?" I said realizing how stupid the words were that just came out of my mouth.
He giggled and gently shook his head at the ground with a big grin.
"I moved from Denver, Colorado about a week ago"
I was awful at small talk and I honestly wanted it to end before I said anything else stupid.
"It was really nice to meet you Cole, I have to go to Spanish but I'll see you around"
"Where's your class?" He asked
"With Mr. Hannan in the east Hallway, why?" I asked him wondering why he cared.
"I'm going to east hallway for anatomy, I'll walk you there" he said, not as a question but more as a favor. It made me happy, he was sweet.

And we walked to class without talking much, but it wasn't uncomfortable, it was a sweet silence, remaining close but not too close.

When I was at my class I said "bye Cole, see you later!"
"Meet me outside the south wing doors after school, by the big tree. Ok?"
"Ok." I said without even thinking.

A/N Let me know if you like it so far! (-:
