Mark Larson was a normal name for a normal bloke. Yep me, Mark. The kid that isn't anything.

The best thing about Pitrevilles high is Ivy Clearwater. The most beautiful girl I had ever seen, she was popular and smart and too good for me.

She never saw me once. Yeah she looked at me but never really saw me. Oh my god I'm probably annoying you with my poetic writing. This is why Ivy would never possibly feel any attraction to me or so I thought.

"C'mon man, we gonna be late for the party" Luke said dramatically.

Luke was my best friend and he really was the only friend I had. He was annoying and rude but he was there for me.

"Do we really have to go to some lame high school Halloween party?" I replied.

Last year, the Halloween disco was the whole school sitting around either A) Snogging B)Getting high or C) Being an drunk idiot.

Luke smiled "C'mon Mark, lighten up a little. Ivy will be there".

Shit. Yeah she would. Luke really knows how to win me over and damn he knows me well.

It took us exactly 26 minutes and 45 seconds to put on our bloody vampire tuxedos on and jump in the jeep. Luke drove at 67mph down the road to Pitrevilles high.

We stood outside the school, at the parking lot.

"Ready, kiddo" Luke smiled, letting his green eyes aluminate in dark.

"I'm older than you, idiot" I replied, I could of came up with a comeback but I couldn't think of any.

"You know that I love you, right" Luke said smiling looking right at me.

"Of course, I love you too" I reply smiling.

Luke looks as happy as ever. "Your like my brother, how could I not love you" I give him a pat on the back,

I start to walk towards the school and Luke holds back for a bit and follows after my fifth step.

The school was filled with a variety of costumes, everything you could imagine. Luke walked with me too the hall, the place was filed with black and orange and the ghostbusters theme song was playing.

Me and Luke started dancing like rockers, then walked in. Ivy Clearwater looking stunning in her black dress and tights. Her blonde hair bouncing off her shoulder.

I smiled at Luke, he didn't smile back. Ivy didn't look at me but looked at her boyfriend Sam Hitchcock.

She ran up to him and wrapped her arms around him and kissed him so hard, she wasn't embarrassed or in love. The way she looked at him was like the way she looked at everyone, dull and unhappy.

Even the smile on her face looked like a mask. It wasn't the real her.

Sam pulled away and took Ivy's and hand and dragged her out of the hall. I couldn't help but feel jealousy, lucky ass getting her.

The night went fast, I wasn't having a good time but Luke was.

Luke put his hands across both my cheeks "Smile more, mark. This isn't a funeral"

I laughed " We aren't exactly dressed for the occasion"

Luke smirked " I look good in anything kiddo"

Ivy never came back into the hall, I looked out for her all night. Until I gave up,

"Let's go home, Luke" I say placing my hand on his shoulder.

"I'm I staying at yours?" He smiled,

"If you want" I replied.

We walked out into the parking lot.

Ivy Clearwater was standing in the middle of the road crying, a pain in my stomach crept up me.

Ivy was dark until the headlights of the car shined upon her.

I ran and jumped upon her moving her and myself out the way of the car.  I made just in time, the car stopped and I was still on top of Ivy. I was so close to her, she had golden eyes I never noticed that before. It was like looking into a golden nugget.

Luke ran across the lot and grabbed me off of Ivy. We both helped her stand up.

She looked scared and vulnerable.

She embraced me in a hug and I could feel her tears run down the back of my tuxedo.

She let go of me "You saved my life, thank you".

I smiled long at her porcelain skin and her red lips "Are you okay? Do we need to take you to hospital?"

She shook her head quickly "I'm fine"

The driver of the car ran towards us. It was Sam Hitchcock.

"I'm so sorry, Ivy" he said.

She looked at him and I saw nothing but anger in her eyes.

Ivy grabbed my hand "I'm okay, I'll get a ride back with Cheryl" she pointed to her friend with the raven black hair.

I smiled the biggest smile and let her go.

She looked back at me and smiled.

She really saw me

She really saw me.
