Letter 4: Tell Him How You Feel

The Year 2022 or the "Future"

Agnes:

After his mother passed away, Ethan lived with his grandmother on the outskirts of this area. We've only visited twice. The last time we came, was for Ethan's funeral.

"Hello. It's Anton I called couple days ago." he said to Ethan's grandmother with a smile.

"Good Afternoon. Please come in. Sorry I kept you waiting. Please, stay and talk about Ethan as long as you like." said Ethan's grandmother to us with a warm smile.

When we come in, Ethan's grandmother saw our baby and she touches it gently.

"Ahh. It's so cute. Is it yours?" said his grandmother to me.

"Yes. We.."

"We got married." said Anton and he interrupts me.

"Agnes and Anton" said the grandmother.

"You remember us?" I ask.

"Oh yes. Your warmth hasn't changed at all. I heard a lot about you two from Ethan. Especially about you, Agnes." said the grandmother and she smiles.

To the past Ethan, I am so sorry that I didn't help you. I wanted to talk more. There were things I wanted to tell you. And things I wanted to hear from you. I regret not having the courage to talk to you about it. that day, what did you want to tell me? Even now, ten years later, I've thought about it.

The Year 2012 or the "Present"

Agnes:

May 5th. Saturday, I went to Parco mall with Elize, Mandy, Harry, and Anton. I bought matching flower patterned short pants with Elize and Mandy. They are really cute but really short. After that, we had softserve at a ice cream park. Mine was Calpis flavoured. Ethan had a date with Eunice, so he couldn't come. Golden week starts the day after tomorrow and we can get together again. I don't know how to act when I see him. The note that Ethan wrote to me and my "no" reply. What happened to them? When I got to the locker room, Ethan greeted me.

"Morning." said Ethan to me and he looks away.

"Morning too."

"Why didn't you wake up this morning?" he asks me and he gets his school slippers.

"Uh..."

"I overslept a little." he said.

"I'm sorry."

"It's fine. Did you get it?' he asks me about the letter he gave to me inside the eraser.

"No, I... you have a girlfriend now, and I thought Eunice would get angry if I called you. And I didn't make lunch today. If I did, it would bother Eunice so.."

"I see. Thanks for doing it up till now. I really liked that you went out of your way to make lunch for me. Sorry I made you." he said to me and he suddenly walks away.

That's not it. I really liked making it. it gave me a chance to talk to him. When I told him, "I made lunch", Ethan always smile. And that really made me happy. I didn't go out of my way at all. I have to tell him that.

"Ethan!" I shouted to him.

"What is it?" he asks and Eunice suddenly come to him and holds his hand.

"Ethan! Good morning!" said Eunice and she smiles.

"Agnes, what was it?" Ethan asks to me.

"It's nothing."
