"MOM, are you sure you na gusto mo 'kong pag-aralin sa Stermon University?" I asked mom first thing in the morning. Umupo ako sa usual seat ko sa aming marble table sa kusina at pinagmamasdan si mom na nilalagyan ng strawberry jam ang isang sliced bread.
"Yes." She answered and gave me the sliced bread with strawberry jam. Inabot ko 'yon saka siya muling nagsalita. "Honestly ..." she looked at me with a hesitant smile.
I have a feeling na hindi ko magugustuhan ang sunod na maririnig ko. Nakatingin lang ako kay mom. She heaved a deep sigh that gave me more reason to feel nervous. Halos hindi nga siya makatingin sa akin.
"What mom?"
"To be honest-"
Mom couldn't finish her sentence when the doorbell suddenly rang. Who could that be again? That was an example of a bad timing. Argh!
Tumayo ako para pagbuksan kung sinumang nag-doorbell na 'yon. Holy sh-! My eyes widened and my feet suddenly feel numb as if it's frozen on the ground. I-Is this really happening?!
"Good morning, Ms. Strawberry Martinez. I'm Colton. Pinadala ako dito ni Chairman S para sunduin ka." He said with a pleasing smile. He's wearing a black business suit with gold mustache brooch pinned on his left chest. As far as I could remember, that's the same words he said when I first met him in my dream.
No freaking way!!! Please, someone should wake me up!!!
I want to scream, but my mouth seemed like it's shut by an invisible duct tape. All I could do is stare at Colton who is still smiling at me with his curious look. Nakakunot ang noo niya na para bang pati siya ay nagtataka na sa 'kin.
"Eri? Hey!"
I blink my eyes for like a hundred times when I heard mom's voice and feel her hand on top of my right shoulder. But still, I couldn't move. I couldn't even utter a single word. It seems like I already lost my senses.
"Good morning, Mrs. Martinez. My name is Colton and I'm here in behalf of Mr. S of The Royal Order from Stermon University." Pagpapakilala ni Colton sa mom ko sabay lahad ng kanang palad niya dito.
"Ow, yes! Pleased to meet you." Agad namang nakipag-shake hand si mom dito.
I just looked at them like what the hell is going on?!
"Please come in. Hindi pa kasi nakakapaghanda ang anak ko."
What?!
Pinapasok ni mom si Colton ng bahay. Ngumiti lang siya sa akin nang daanan niya 'ko. Si mom naman mas lalong tila natataranta sa pagdating ni Colton.
Mom pulled me into the kitchen after she served a cup of juice and a slice of blackforest cake to Colton in our living area. Until now, hindi pa rin maprocess ng utak ko kung ano ang nangyayari kaya hindi ko alam kung ano ba ang irereact ko. O kung kailangan ko bang magreact dahil hindi pa rin ako sigurado kung gising na ba talaga ako o nananaginip na naman ako.
"Anak, alam kong nabigla ka. The truth is, I already enrolled you in Stermon University almost a month ago. I just couldn't find the right time to tell you about that because I knew you'll be against it." Mom explained.
I'm not surprise at all. Lumulutang pa rin sa kung saan ang utak ko. Parang pakiramdam ko gising ako at the same time, nananaginip.
"Mom, please pakisampal po ako nang malakas." I said. If this is just a dream, hindi ko na hihintayin pang kunin ako ni Colton at dalhin na naman sa wirdong lugar na 'yon. Kailangan ko nang magising!
