"Pay for the month's rent. Or, become the Alpha's concubine. The fucking cowards!"

Things were bad. She stared at her twin sister as she threw a glass at the wall.

They'd coped for some time just fine, sort of, but Emilia  had lost her job a month back when she'd refused to 'service' one of the wolf-bound. Now they had an eviction notice and both were in deep trouble. They accused  Emilia  of stealing and they couldn't pay the Pack rent?

They had to get out. They had no money. They had no belongings. Their parents? Had disowned the both of them when both Emilia and Lilia had become human-bound, the first in their family, and were now rewarded for it. It had hurt her badly, to be betrayed like that, and they no longer looked at her like she was their girl. She was just 'that human-bound'.

Lilia sighed softly and flopped her head down on her arms. She was holding the notice, Emilia pacing up and down, and she felt sick to her stomach. Homeless. That wasn't a good place to be.

The worst part was the offer. They'd offer a way out of this. There was a reason why Emilia had worked and Lilia hadn't- they were scared of Emilia. But Lilia? She had this habit of attracting the wrong kind of guy. She didn't like attention from guys, it bugged her, she didn't like confict, and that just made her even more appealing to the dominant werewolf men who loved to rule over their little universe. Lilia was stalked around a lot when she tried to work, pawed at, but they'd tried it with Emilia and figured out that was a bad idea. So Emilia worked and Lilia went to University with humans who didn't get turned on by her shyness.

That was why they'd offered  them a way out. If Lilia gave up her University course altogether, if she pledged to work for the Alpha and his brothers in any and all ways demanded, they'd forgive Emilia for the theft she'd never commited. The alternative was either being expellled from the Pack, which would make them both easy pickings by any werewolf around, or Emilia being killed.

 "I have to do it, don't I?"

"Are you fucking crazy?"

Yeah, she was. She was crazy scared.  She had only just turned nineteen. Just a few years ago,  Lilia  had her sixteenth ball and spent the entire night being harassed by some strange guy in the Pack. The creep had stalked her around, come onto her, pawed her, keeping his mask on so she didn't know who he was. But he was a wolf-bound werewolf and he kept offering her a 'special position' as his favorite servant. She hadn't needed to ask what kind of position he was thinking.  Emilia had been the one to work as a servent in the end while  Lilia tried to complete her study in University to become a midwife. Emilia refused to let her drop out.

"No. No. We're going."  Emilia snatched the note. "I don't care what they think we're supposed to do. I heard the pack in Panama are good. We'll go to them. Maybe they'll be nice." She stormed into the other room. "I'm packing our things. Get the car warmed up. We're getting the hell away from this Pack before they can announce we're fair game for all."

Lilia slid into the car. They'd sold a lot of their things over the past ten years to pay the rent, leaving only a couple of bags worth of things that mostly belonged to their parents, as well as their clothing. She sat there at the wheel, the engine warming, steam rising in the cold winter morning. She was afraid suddenly. Afraid, because two rogue werewolves were never treated okay, because they were rarely accepted into a Pack once cast out, because two female human-bound weren't seen as women. They were seen as property that was just waiting to be picked up and claimed.

There was little she liked about the Northern Pack. But the last thing she wanted to become was another of Alpha's concubines.

Lilia shut her eyes, afraid, hoping this was right. That they'd survive this.
