I was coming home from the last school day of my sophomore year, when I approached the driveway and saw my mom's car I was surprised. She normally worked until 3 and it was 2 now so to say I was confused was an understatement. When I finally got to the door and unlocked it I called my mom's name.

"Mom! Mom you here?!"

I went and looked for her everywhere I checked the kitchen, the bathroom, until lastly I checked her room. What I saw when I went in was my mom on the floor pale as snow, a glass of water, and a empty bottle of sleeping pills in her hand. I screamed and dropped to my mom's side I was hoping that she was alive, hoping and praying that a miracle could happen and bring my mom back to me. It didn't. I called the police and they took her away.

They asked me if there was anyone I could call, so I called my aunt Klarie that lives in California as she is the only family I have. After talking to her it was decided that I would live with her. But since she lives in California and I live in Vermont, she wouldn't be here till tomorrow. So the cops said I could gather my things and stay at a friend's house until my aunt got me tomorrow .

While grabbing my stuff I found a note on my bed with my name on it, and by the handwriting I could tell it was from my mom I opened it immediately and it read:

Dear Oliver,

I'm so sorry baby, I know that I was your only parent since your dad left years ago, I also know that what I did was really unfair to you but I couldn't take it anymore. I needed an escape. But i want you to remember that I love you very much and I'm watching from above. Knowing you, you called your aunt Klarie lol. But I hope she treats you well, I know she will. And I hope you find a guy that's worth your time and love. And I hope that you will let me meet him one day.

I love you so much,
Mom

By the end I was crying.
~time skip to present time~

It's been a full month since I moved in with my aunt Klarie. I haven't spoken since I've gotten here,my aunt has given up on getting me to speak. She still talks to me, though she knows the only reaction she'll ever get is me nodding my head 'yes' or 'no' and occasionally a shrug of the shoulders. Recently she's told me that I'm going to start school ,I'll be attending Wilmore High School. I'm kind of excited, but at the same time new people, people that won't understand me.

Hopefully I won't be the only gay kid there because that would suck. I start in about 2 weeks or so, that's why lately we've been getting school supplies. As for the people back in Vermont, I don't really keep in touch with them. All they really do is pity me and I don't take pity. It's getting late, so I decide to go to bed. I turn my lamp off and pull the covers up to my chest and let sleep consume me.
