I've always been extra careful with ladies because you never know what idea you can give them with the smallest action. But when it came to Ruby it seemed as if I knew her my whole life, like she was one of my dear friends from grade school. We walked to the library in silence. I didn't really know what to do. I decided just walking would be good for now.
When we walked in Ruby ran to the library and started to look through books. Book after book. I decided to pick up on my book of France. We pretty much just read the entire time we were there. When the clock stroke 10:00, I decided we should probably head back.On our way back, Ruby said, "Thank you Mr. Smith, I really appreciate it", "My pleasure, Miss Ruby Jane". Before she went into her room she looked back, I gleefully winked and turned before she could have any reaction. I walked back to my room to see my mother, sitting on my bed giving me that look, that look that I was sure afraid of.
"HARVEY JAMES SMITH!!", my mothers shrill voice rang in my ears, "My oh my, oh my, oh my! Out of all my life I have never been so disappointed in my own son! I tell you to go to the drawing room, what do you do? Not listen to me. I tell you to socialize with the other women, what do you do? Not listen to me! I ask one simple task and you disobey. Where have you BEEEN!"
"The library", I whispered. I usually was never afraid to stand up to my mom but she's never been this mad at me since... since...nevermind that. I was also sure to not let my mother know that I was out in the library with Ruby.
As if on cue my mother raised an eyebrow, "With anyone certain?", I quickly replied, "Nope".
"Oh really?", she asked. "Yep" I quickly said again. "Well", I faked a yawn, "I'm tuckered out, I should probably head to bed", I slowly pushed my mom out of my bedroom. She sighed, "Goodnight, Harvey", she kissed my forehead. "Goodnight mother!"That sure was fun. I laid on my bed, staring at the ceiling. I couldn't go to sleep. I decided to grab my book and start reading again. Suddenly the words got blurry and my eyelids became heavy, finally my eyes closed and I was sound asleep.
