Chaper 5

Nathan's POV

   Kelly and I walked to the office and asked for passes for the library. When we got there we looked around for different books on effects of shadow powers. We found a few but one in particular stood out. It had a picture of a crescent moon just like my cuts, which are now scars. We opened up a page and started to read. The page said "The one with the moon scar shall be the birth of angels" I read through a little more. There wasn't a whole lot of explanation in the book but there were some things that seemed similar to me. Such as having a scar shaped like a moon and also it said they were able to communicate with souls of the dead. I wanted to test this out. So i asked Kelly "Can we go to your mom's class real quick?"

"Ya why?" she replied

"Something in this book just sounds weird i want to test it out" I said as we checked out the book and walked to the field  where the lessons were being held. I walked up to Ms. Sinet, when she saw me she gave me a small hug.

"Nathan I hope your feeling better now." she said, I nodded.

"Can you open a portal for us?" I asked, she opened a portal and we stepped inside. I told Kelly what she needed to do.

"Ok but it won't understand" she said walking up to a soul. She tried to talk to it but it didn't acknowledge her. When she came back she threw her hands up and said "see"

"I wonder" I said, We walked up to a soul and I felt a tug at something in my head. When I went to talk to it I wasn't speaking English. I said something to the soul. In my head i heard "Master you have come" the he bowed down. I was shocked.

"How did you? What?" She said just as confused as I was. I shrugged.

"I guess I can speak death?" I said

"Ask the soul about the scar!" She said. I looked at the soul and asked about my "condition".

"You are a Shadow Walker. You can do things that others can't. We still have not learned all of what you can do either." The soul said

"How do you not know what I can do?" I asked. I looked at Kelly who had a confused look on her face.

"Each shadow walker is the same but your soul is different, more powerful than the others" It said

"What about the scar?"

"The scar was a sort of sign to show us who you are, it won't happen again" It said

"Thank you... You may leave" I said, The soul bowed and floated away. I told Kelly everything that happened. Then we went to talk to Ms. Sinet. The bell rang when we walked out of the portal.

"Class dismissed" She said. She looked at us then closed her portal. She walked up to us and asked "Why did you need my portal?"

"I can speak to souls" I said, her eyes widening.

"What?" She said. I told her what had happened. She nodded as the bell rang. She called us to come to class. It's already 3rd period? I thought to myself.

Kelly's POV

   We walked into class and sat down. Everyone was staring at us.

"Since Nathan here has fallen behind a little bit why don't you help him Kelly?" My mom asked

"Ok"

"Good now let's meet on the field." She said walking off. A few minutes later everyone was on the field spread out in pairs. Nathan and I were out away from everyone else.

"Ok, ready?" I asked

"Not really but i'll try" He said. He stood there for a second relaxing his mind. He released some of his energy opening a sea green portal.

"Good job, I really like the color too" I said

"Thanks and it's the color of your eyes" He said sheepishly.

"Nate...." I gave him a hug. He smiled and I let go. I turned to the portal, now that I think about It the portal had a strong aura to it. We practiced all class. The bell rang and we started to walk to class.

"Ugh, that was hard." He said

"You still need practice though. Why don't you come over and practice with me?" I asked

"Ok be there at 5?"

"Sounds good to me" I said walking to class. After school I stopped by Emma's dorm, she is my best friend next to Nathan.

"Hey Kelly, Hows it going?" Asked Emma opening the door.

"Not the best to be honest" I said

"Well whats been happening you haven't talked to me in 3 weeks!" She said

"Well Nathan and I started dating 2 and half weeks ago and the-" I started

"Wait your finally dating Nathan!? That's why we haven't talked, I get it! I'm so excited for you guys!" She said screaming in a girly way.

"I'm worried though.... 2 weeks ago he tried to open his first portal but...." I could feel tears on my cheek.

"What did he do, What happened?" She said with worry in her voice.

"He... started bleeding..and...and he blacked out" I was crying and couldn't stop myself

"WHAT!!! Why didn't any one tell me!!" She yelled

"He was in the infirmary for 2 weeks...." I said

"Kelly are you ok, I-I'm sorry I wasn't thinking" she said hugging me. After a while I went home. I heard the doorbell and it was Nathan. I was worried and I think he saw that.

"Are you ok?" He asked hugging me. I cried into his shoulder.

"I'm just worried..." Was all I could get out. He closed the door and carried me bridal style over to the couch. He went to pick a movie and I asked him "Aren't we supposed to be training?"

"Not while your like this" He said coming back to sit with me. We watched some more movies snuggled up on the couch. We ended up falling asleep and I'm glad he was there for me.......
