Kassidy's POV-

The last person I'd expect to ring my grandparents doorbell is Jack Gilinsky. His mom made these amazing double chocolate chip cookies and he delivered them.

As we talked about hings like sports, music and school, I couldn't help but form a crush on him. He's just so funny, athletic and cute. I found out he played basketball and I told him I ran Cross Country. I really enjoyed our conversation, even though he left too early.

I poured myself a tall glass of milk and took the remaining cookies upstairs to my new room. I set the dessert down on my bedside table and collapsed onto the plush queen sized bed. I pulled my iPhone 5s out of my gold studded purse and dialed my friend, Carleigh. After 3 rings, i heard her familiar voice,

"Hola" she answered.

"Hey" i sighed, finally relaxing for the first time that day.

"How was the flight?" she asked.

"Great, actually." I responded. "Amber didn't freak out like i thought she would." I took a big bite out of one of the cookies.

"And guess what!" I asked, shooting forward and blushing.

"What?!" she asked, getting excited from the tone in my voice.

"THE Jack Gilinsky lives across the street!!" I squealed.

Carleigh gasped and i knew right away she was fangirling.

"No freakin way!" she finally said, attempting to calm herself down.

"Yes way!" I exclaimed, jumping up and down.

"He goes to my new school." I stated, calming down enough to finish the rest of the 2% milk in my cup.

"I miss you Kat" she stated abruptly.

"Carls, I miss you too." I replied. I sat back down on my bed.

"Just.... all of this happened so quickly. And now you live so far away. Who am I suppose to go to Krazy Kup with now on Saturday nights?" she barely whispered.

Tears started to form in the corners of my eyes.

"I know." I sigh. "But everything happens for a reason. And this all will work out." I promised.

"I guess you're right" Carleigh admitted with a loud sigh.

"I love ya" I say, trying to change the mood.

"Love you too."

And with that our conversation was over.

I was exhausted from everything that happened today. I was glad tomorrow was Saturday and that me and Gran were going to go shopping. I wandered into the bathroom that was connected to my bedroom. I combed out my knotted hair and brushed my teeth. I walked out and slide between the silk bed sheets. As i drifted off to sleep, i whispered "i love you" to my parents.

*The Next Day*

"Come on Gran!" I called, climbing into her cherry red jeep. I started the car and honked the horn.

"I'm coming, I'm coming!" she replied.

She gave me a funny look when she saw me in the driver's seat.

"Since when are you a legal driver?" she asked, firmly placing her hands onto her hips.

"Since a week before the accident." I answered with an attitude.

She sighed and slide into the passenger seat.

"You're growing up too fast." she told me.

We both buckled our seat belts. I pulled out of the driveway and onto the main road. As i passed Jack's house, I looked into his yard to see him and Jack J making a vine. I honked to get their attention. When I did, i smiled and waved, trying to look cute.

"Does my granddaughter have a crush?" my grandma asked, nudging my shoulder and winking.

I rolled my eyes at her question and turned onto the highway.

"I don't know." I shrugged with all honesty. Did i?

"Well why not?" Hes such a sweet boy." My grandma continued as she put her aviators on.

"I just don't think he'll be into me. ... guys don't like sad, broken girls." I sighed. I immediately regretted saying that. I wanted the topic to be changed fast.

She caught on quickly and started talking about shopping. I didn't pay any mind because i kept thinking about what i said.

Guys don't like sad broken girls.

So Jack wouldn't like me
