The following morning, I woke bright and early to find Hermione still asleep on my bed. She must have fallen asleep after reading the book last night. Not wanting to disturb her, I gently slipped out of bed, washed and changed into my outfit. Luckily it was the weekend, so I could relax and take the time to explore my new school. However, my plan was short lived when I spotted Harry sat on the sofa looking up as if he were waiting for someone,
"Morning Harry!" I smiled, skipping down the stairs to meet him at the bottom,
"Morning Odessa thought I'd wait to tell you myself. Wood wants to see us. He wants to teach us about Quidditch," Harry informed,
"Oh well, I guess we had to learn about it at some point. Let's go." Harry and I then headed down to the entrance of the school where we met Oliver Wood, who was stood there with a long box at his feet. He enlisted Harry to help him carry the box over to the grass fields ready for our lesson,
"Quidditch is easy enough to understand. Each team has seven players; three chasers - you'll be one of them Odessa - two beaters, one keeper and a seeker - that's you, Harry," Oliver explained. He then bent down and opened up the chest before unlocking a chain to release a large red ball which has parts of it carved out,
"This one's called the Quaffle," Oliver spoke, showing me the ball, "Now the chasers handle the Quaffle and try to put it through one of those three hoops," he explained while tossing the ball to be which I gracefully caught. Looking up, I then noticed the three hoops Oliver was on about. It doesn't look too hard.
"The keeper - that's me - defends the hoops. You with me so far?" he asked to which I nodded before giving him back the fall,
"I think so," Harry replied while looking down at two balls which were shaking around, "What are those?" Oliver then bent down a grabbed a clubs and handed it to Harry,
"You both better take these," Harry and I looked at each other in confusion before cautiously taking the clubs. Suddenly, Oliver released one of the balls causing it to go flying up into the air,
"Bloody hell! What is it?" I exclaimed watching it fly up,
"Careful now - it's coming back," Oliver said. Harry firmly held onto the club and hit the ball causing it to fly through two statues which sat on top of the school, "Huh. Not bad Potter. You'd make a fair beater!" the ball then came flying back towards us, well mainly me which caused me to jump out of the way. I fell backwards while Oliver caught it and put it away,
"Nice dodge there, Black," he smiled while helping me up,
"What was that?" Harry asked,
"That was a bludger. Nasty little buggers. But the only ball I want you to worry about is this...the Golden Snitch" Oliver explained, while opening a little crest in the middle to reveal a small golden ball,
"I like this ball," Harry smiled,
"Ah you like it now, just wait. It's wicked fast and damn near impossible to see," Oliver said,
"What do I do with it?" Harry asked,
"You catch it - before the other team's seeker. You catch this the games over, you catch this Potter, and we win," Wood then release the Snitch causing it to jump up, sprout wings and fly around so quickly!
"Wow!" Harry and I gawked, trying to watch the balls every movement. I was looking forward to my first match, I have a feeling it was going to be good!
