I once had a love

Pure, gentle, and sweet

An innocence

But I looked at you and

What I saw inside

Was not pure

Was not you

Slip from my grasp when I reach

I fade away motionless

The mockingbird mocks me

Screams out his name

And I ran through the night's foul words

Ran to the fields of gold,

Look at your shining eyes in the dark sky

And whisper for your prayers

Wind blows away my wishes

Carried my once honest hope

Now holding a tormented soul

Pain, another useless term

Not even good enough

For what I feel

The lone wolf betrays his brothers and sisters

Finds his true one,

And she left him

Crushed his heart

Like you crushed mine

I once had a love, someone near and dear to me...anger sweeps in...molding the shape of permanent thresholds...kindling warmth...putting out the blaze...body succumbed in desire...boundaries left untouched...condolences handed out to troubled...darkness blacks out passion...the consequences of loving...hearts forever broken

Misery seeps from my soul

Consuming me

In an endless black hole

You look in my eyes

You see hatred

You see sadness

You see hope

You walk away

Killing a mockingbird is a sin

Shame, shame on you all!

A picture of innocence,

Singing songs for the soulful ones

Enjoying the love of the tone

Faded away

You destroyed a soul!

A pure soul,

Evil coward

You have nothing more to say

To me

When a girl found her first love, she endlessly searched for ways to get him. Tried for days and days, and then found the courage to ask him out. He said yes, set up a day and time, and anxiously waited. He never came. He ditched her. He broke her heart. Her first but not last rejection...

My mother told me to not trust anyone but myself...
